Why can't I make it sound good

Unluckily me too. Only the first preset generates something audible. This is the result: http://drop.io/xnufx2u

FYI: I am using it in Renoise, I'll try with another host.           http://soundcloud.com/alphadelphi

only the first preset is active...

and that sounds about right!

the synth happily produces this http://www.sendspace.com/file/h5lkq5 with no external EQ, and only compression on bass group with these settings, no bouncing straight out of the synth. Synth channel is totally clear of any effects up until group stage, whereupon it is treated to waves C1-sc. and a smidge of corrective EQ, just to make it sit with the bass, using upwards compression. The fundamental character of the patch is not altered.

Here are the settings for the patch, should you wish to copy and confirm.

by and large, odd sequencer compatibility issues aside, if you can't get a decent sound, the issue is not the synth.

I don't provide you with banks of presets. Thats up to you. I figure my part is done at the coding stage. There is nothing to stop people providing banks for each other. In fact, rather than donate to me, as some have suggested, if people get use out of it, providing a couple of presets for it would me very much appreciated.

Any technical issues, I will, and am attempting to deal with.

'I don't know how to make it sound killargh' is not one of the issues I have time to deal with. I've given a lot of advice RE EQ, compression and bass management in general over the years, both here, and on other forums. Following it results in the sound you hear above.

If you can do better, your input is greatfully received, so Psy-kick can be better yet.          .

really nice work man. i'd love some presets for psytrance kicks -to get half an idea how to adjust (or how it can sound with proper tweaking).. i can't tame this beast.

I'm having trouble with it to, in Ableton 7 and FL8 (both originals)

After I have copied the dll to the plug-ins folder, stalls when it 'scans' Psy-Kick 4.

I am really confused about these sequencer issues. It runs fine for me in Ableton 7 the demo of 8 and its SM, so integration with FL8 is tried and true.

I don't get it, I really don't.

My current thinking is that maybe there is another plugin that has the same 4 letter id out there. That could cause problems (but I wouldn't expect this at scan). Or maybe its a corrupt DL.

One way to get nearer the problem would be for people having problems to try this:

http://www.cantabilesoftware.com/download/

(the lite version is free)

which is a small stand alone VST host which will allow loading plugins without scanning the plugin folder. Its pretty nice for live performance too!

If it works in here, then there is an issue somewhere down the line with personal PC setup. If it doesn't then I suggest re DLing the Psy-Kick 4.dll - maybe it was a corrupt DL.

The reason I suggest Cantabile is that it will just work with the one plugin allowing you to click and load the .dll file - which eliminates possible conflicts. And yes, it runs fine in that for me.

I think it is interesting that it will not run in either sequencer for fupt_live - that implies something is conflicting in your setup - I know it will run in both sequencers - so I'd like to try and figure out whether the DL of my plug was bad, or whether you have another VSTi conflicting. That is easily resolvable ... but I need to know that is what is occuring before I take this step.

Thanks for your patience.

you will find even more strange if I say that the "Vampyromorphida1.01.dll" is not working to!

Same problem, same message...

i download the vst host lite, try to load psy kick (not scan vst folder), and have the same problem, freeze, only in Ctrl+Alt+Del ending the program.

does your CPU support SSE instructions?

ie Athon XP or Pentium 3 or better?

thats a prerequisite for the software.

I'm really at a loss otherwise - something in your setup clearly doesn't like SM synths. And it is very difficult to know precisely what. No-one of the SM forums seems to know either (developers or users). It is difficult for me to know what to suggest?           .

Big tanks Speaka!

Nice one... But was thinking, in the image of the settings you posted, how come high and mid freq is set to A, low is in E and Base freq is in B?

Which ones do i tune for getting the kick in a specific key, for tuning it to bass or otherwise?

Just the bottom one.

The rest you'll get through too fast to have any real bearing on perceived pitch - they are more controlling character.

That one isn't a pitched kick - it just sounded right to me there, so it stayed.          .

the low one is always sweeping downwards in pitch to the base freq - therefore it isn't really in a key as it contains all freqs inbetween the low start and base freq.           .
