I may be totally off the mark here, but I was reading the thread about DJ mixes and it occurred to me that a lot of psy fans seem to view their music in a similar way rock fans do. The emphasis in the scene is placed on artists and whole tracks and albums, rather than the mixes and DJ's. The genre also has a lot of very stylised artwork i.e. you can often look at the sleeve of a psy record and you know it's a psy record before you've even heard it, like you can with a lot of rock/metal records. This is different from any other genre of dance music I can think of. Anyone agree (or wish to shoot me down for being so wrong?)
I guess this should maybe be in the "Old rockers today's psytrancers" thread, so move it there if you like, moderators. I thought it might be worth starting a thread specifically about the similarities though... Up 2 you.
