Hello Beautiful People,

Just wanted to let interested folk in the Melbourne (Australia) area know about interesting artwork that currently installed at Wallah, a cafe in Carlisle Street Balaclava (between the railway bridge and the BP), in the heart of Melbourne's Israeli community. Details as follows:

Title: The Space Between Light and Sound
Artist: Elaine M Stevenson

Blurb:
The space between light and sound is a magical place, where light responds to sound, and sound to light. These images, sometimes described as ‘painting with light’ begin life as surreal photographic recordings of light captured in settings resonant with intense beat-driven sound-scapes, energising bodies and minds alike into wee small hours from midnight to dawn and beyond.

The finished images reflect journeys into a plethora of disparate visual environments above and below the oceans, from the microscopic to the panoramic, through history’s bricks and mortar, and back again, to the frenetic point where light and sound merge in a cacophony of beats and bodies.

They have their origins in the following festivals and parties, almost all of which featured Israeli artists:

After Rainbow – images from light installations at the Rainbow Serpent After-Party at St Kilda’s Prince of Wales Hotel in February 2006.

Still Thinking – images captured during the CD launch for Melbourne/Israeli Hop / Jazz-Funk Band ‘Still Thinking’ also at the Prince of Wales Hotel in April 2006.

High Society – images captured during March 2006 at the ‘High Society’ party

EC – images captured at ‘Earthcore in the Park’ at Melbourne’s Sydney Myer Music Bowl in March 2006.

Images from these and other series are also displayed at Noise Bar (Brunswick, Melbourne). All images are limited edition prints and can be ordered. Contact details are available at the venues or from me via PM. Sorry, no website at present.

I'd love to hear what people think of them, if anyone is in the area and has a chance to wander past.

Cheers heaps and smiles always,

Elena.
