LOL, I am a new orleans native(The only one in isratrance apparently).
Is there a psy scene there?
Let me put it like this:
I was catching a cab to NO international airport a while back, and the taxi driver had some rock music playing from b97 fm. He asked me what type of music did I like. I told him that I like electronic music. His reponse was "what is that?"
Bottomline:
NOTHING. 0%. NADA.
However, you may be able to catch some other stuff downtown at the state palace theater. I used to see a lot of goths going there when I when I was a student at UNO(this was long before I even dabbled in psy). New Orleans is straight up ghetto. Most people there are into rap and rock. NOTHING ELSE!
You can try to get something going there, but I can't gurantee you'll be successful. If you do, then let me know. If I'm in town, I'll glady swing on by the party .
Here's a really big warning: The city is virtually dead at this moment. When I was visiting there back in Dec. to early january, everything in the city was closed. EVERYTHING. No streetcars, no fast food food joints, no parties, no malls, NO cinemas., NOTHING. I can't even suggest anything to you except partying in the french quarter on the weekends. Since the FQ was not damaged, people from the surrounding areas still (metaire, kenner, gretna, etc) head there to party.
Good luck man,
DT |

I'll contact him too. I'll probably go home on vacation in april. Maybe something will be happening there during that time. |

"In New Orleans's Congo Square, a grassy plain where the city fathers had permitted slaves to fraternize for a few hours on Sundays, revellers performed African dances accompanied by music that featured drumming and stringed instruments. American Indians, slaves, and free people of color conducted business, socialized, and entertained themselves. The square is listed on the National Register of Historic Places."

hey folks.....dj qog here...
y'all are right about a few things, new orleans is mostly ghetto as far as scene goes....and the only psytrance you're likely to hear in this city is in my apartment or blasting in my prelude...
that being said, anyone living/visiting in the area is welcome to contact me....
my apartment is remodeled and FEMA is a wonderful thing for studio equipment....

You may also here some psytrance blasting out of my mom's house when I'm visiting, hehe.
What I think would really be awesome is psy party during mardi gras time. It's that time of the year as we speak. If new orleans was even just a wee-bit into this music, mardi gras would be something really really to look forward to each year. |

LOL. Dude, trust me. I know the feeling. I knew it for 20 years until I went to school in miami.
If new orleans weren't so ghetto, and if the city had just a weebit on psy, it would be a decent place to live in.
