as far as psy stuff going on in atlanta is concerned, i certainly wouldn't hold my breath. a few other psy djs and myself tried getting something going here in atlanta & athens over the last few years, and we just never managed to get enough people interested in the genre to be able to get things off the ground for any kind of regular event. people around here love their house, breaks, and drum & bass.. and the only kind of trance that people seem all that interested in is the cheesy euro-club stuff. even with those more popular types of dance music, it is nearly impossible to get people to come out to support the locals.. the only way to get people to make it out is with an out-of-town headliner. that being said, since so few people here are familiar with psytrance, it would be pointless to spend the money on an out-of-town headliner that nobody who isn't already into psy would have ever heard of. it's a vicious cycle, man. if you are in or around the atlanta area, your best bet is to check out what is going on in asheville nc.. it's about a 3½ hour drive from downtown atl.

as for stuff in chicago, you might have a bit more luck.. they had IM there not too long ago, and it looks like things are picking up there a bit.. try checking out http://www.chilluminati.org .

yup yup atlanta not quite ready i guess or its got too much catching up to do anyways.... at least, it feels good that there is psyfamily there. not for lack of effort there, its just not the right community for psy events, yeah i can see that being hard....not quite a psy-energy there, sort of jumbled feelings ...? hard to define why
one time about 5 years ago i went to an Orb show in atlanta and the majority of the people losing it dancing at that event were from asheville. hehehe everyone else worried about thier cel phones on the dancefloor and whether or not thier shoes were shiny.
and on the other side of the coin (or the mountains) ! many many times, up here in asheville, a psy dj from atlanta have played the most spectacular mind wrecking sets! michael curran is known for his vortex-inducing style, also Moksa (who has a fat new mix on touchsamadhi site now) and PYITE who is about to blow up in japan right now are all atlanta boys.
as far as asheville-- we have our monthly psyfri event in asheville with our man SOT (from chicago) on 4/1- last time he played in asheville, was too long ago... he shredded the ionosphere and left us all twirling in some galactic breeze while we drooled, stomping away....
up in chicago on 4/9 will be a great event!

sweet i cant wait for chilluminati! im travelling the country going to hippy shows but there is 3 night in chicago right on that weekend so it could not be more perfect cause pystrance is my passion! can wait to get all the east coast rollin! youll c me on the dance floor BSM dance to your set! cant wait to meet you and everyone going in the east coast psytrance scene
