in terms of up coming ventures: i totally support them but in my opinion quality is definitely more important than quantity.
Like i have said in several of my posts on other threads, i feel that nyc at one pt had a bunch of orgz throwing parties whenever they could with similar artists instead of joining hands and having some big solid parties together.
IMO:so instead of weekly parties do a party once a month but with massive quality. headliners.
- the other thing is that this is supposed to become a weekly thing and then we have the psycheground biweekly parties: i think its gonna be really hard to decide where to go and then the money factor comes in i.e. do i have cash to go to both the parties.
so why not the two groups join n do something together? it would be amazing because the interests i am guessing lie in the same things
just some thoughts....
either way have fun tonight...deviant species is amazing and then of course our very own Brandon Adams!!

I arrived at about 2am to a 14th st riddled with revelers, wannabes, critics, bouncers, hipsters and thought "either during my break from trance during the last two years everything went commercial or I am at the wrong place." It turned out to be the wrong place. phew. We walked two more doors down and asked if this was the party. The guy said it was A party and he didnt let me in until i rattled off the Dj names.
The place was really crowded and hot. This seems like a terrible venue for a dance party. There is very little dancing room and incredibly poor ventilation, but hey fuck it after all we are here to sweat.
When I arrived Nobi was mixing some energetic full on. The music was boring with very repetitive riffs but I have to respect the guy for his top notch mixing skills.
Finally deviant species got started at around 3:10 and strangely enough it looked like nobi was manning the mixer for him for some reason for the first half hour. Regardless, deviant species' unique blend of dark techno textures with psychedelic acid leads knocked me back on my ass. The spiraling signal caressed each and every dancer as they twirled beneath the uv aura. He seamlessly transitioned into a squid inc live set, a side project with scorb, which had a similar sensibility but much more melodic and sonically pristine. I went into complete trance at this point and started visualizing spirals and tried a meditation where I would synchronize this visual imagery with the actual music hitting my ears.
After this came more of the same ol boring full on so I left. But not before reconnecting with a lot of old friends and dancing to amazing music while smelling lots of body odor within the huddled mass that was the trancefloor.
Two trance virgins came with me to this party and had an awesome time which is always a good sign.
thanks el nadiv for a good party and all of the dancers for lots of positive energies transferred.

Heyas ! was just able to post now... I had a good time at the party indeed ! certain shitty parts... like me forgetting my ID and having to bump the bouncher 20 bucks.. so i paid 45 bucks to see one international artist which kinda sucked but that's my prob for not bringing my ID I suppose...
I got there while brandon was playing his set.. really enjoyed some of the music he was playing and the mixing... Kno-b then took the stage and started playing stuff that wasn't really my cup of tea.. but never the less dynamic mixing and some tracks i did enjoy but not my fav sets of his in my personal music taste.. Now Deviant species! Definitely my musical taste ! I loved his music.. A really unique dark bassline thumping minimalist type of psytrance really infosizing on the leads and the peculiar samples really did a bit to my mind and feet from dancing so much ! Very nice night time music... Only problem was.. after he broke into squid inc. which was brilliant listening to some of the new tracks I did and did not know... It kinda got boring into the end.. but it was 3 hours set in the same structure sounding music... but better that then many things Overall had a great time with friends.. hope to catch you all soon !

Just HAD to comment on your statement. Deviant Species did NOT PLAY for 3hrs! I was there when Brandon was playing, then Kno-b was next..then Deviant Species/Santos took the stage at about 3am, but had trouble with his connections from Apple to mixer, hence kno-b played until it was figured out (one hour later!!) Deviant species actually played from about 3:50- 5:10 then Knob came back on for his Samauri Mixing
I was a little disappointed that Santos did not play longer, his music is just amazing, have not "stomped" like that in years! Couldnt make out when Deviant Species was playing vs. Squid Ink...but his set was great, except for the skipping and some sound issues.
The place was tiny and claustrophobic at times, had no space to dance really.
I was meeting some friends who have never been to a Psytrance party before and I believe they may have gone to one of the other "248" addresses on 14th street. I wish El Nadiv was a little more specific about the location IE: saying it was the childrens day-care entrance or something...
Hope you have all recovered! nice to see some old faces and smiling new ones!
also nice to "officially" meet Max - Earworm |

hi, just popping in to clear some issues. due to technical problems i had to restart my set and ended up playing tracks from my 2 projects blended in in no specific order, this goes in answer to the comment about the 2nd half being sonically more pristine
i played over 2 hours or just about, definitely not 3. for those who commented / found the end boring i must say some of my best tracks went on then, however technical issues with deep end frequencies were not resolved, strangely they oscillated in and out of the mix all along my set, became more stable as I resumed it and were missing altogether in the last half an hour or so. Just to remind those who may have been too high to figure it out, minimal psy trance relies heavily on them, no bass no impact. |

This was fun! Thanks Elnadiv and Eyal for the warm welcome Brandon Adams you are a mensch, so happy we will party together in SoCal for Halloween. Deviant Species! Sound issues aside, that was really tasty. Very stompy, intelligent music. I enjoyed it a lot. Happy to feel a proper psytrance groove here in NY, looking forward to the next one. |
