I'm well aware that there's already a topic about psychedelic movies on this forum full with excelent recomendations where I've discovered and enjoyed a lot of artistic films. In my knowledge animated shorts are not discused here before and that is why I'm opening this separate topic. I hope to see some suggestions.
My recommendations:
1. Ryan - 2005 (OW)*
2. Chris Wedge - 2003 (OW)
3. More - 1999 (OW)
4. The God
5. The Periwig Maker - 2001 (OW)
6. Geri's Game - 1998 (OW)
7. 50% Grey
8. The Separation
9. Tma, Svetlo, Tma
10. Fallen Art
11. The Cathedral (my favorite)
These ones are not realy psychedelic but are realy worth mentioning, some are funny, some sad but I find all of them outstanding:
12. Harvie Krumpet (OW)
13. Cousin
14. Gopher Broke
15. Scrat's Missing Adventure
16. Das Rad
17. For the Birds
18. Robota
19. The Chubbchubbs
20. Boundin
*OW - Oscar winners

Hey, I saw "Ryan" here in my hometown, on an Animated Film Festival, that takes place here every year, called Cinanima. Check http://www.cinanima.pt/ENG/index_eng.html
I have to say that "Ryan" was not my favourite film, I remember giving it a 3 out of 5 in the paper they give us to grade the movies. And I believe it was not the choice of most people, since the audience choice's award went to another movie (don't remember the title, sorry). |

It's cool thing to have a Short Films Festival in the city you live isn't it.. I checked the site (it's actualy under reconstruction I guess, not much to see) and noticed that "Ryan" was in fact the winner of two awards, the Grand Prize and the Critics Prize. Although it's a question of taste "Ryan" received bunch of awards worldwide and it's consiedered a must for anyone interested in 3D Animation. It's a real story about an inventive animator (realy psychedelic work) who suffered cocaine and alcohol addiction in the '70s. One of his films was nominated for the Oscars at the time.
About the recommendations above, there is a mistake at No. 2, that's the creators name, the movie name is "Bunny". No. 19 is also an Oscar Winner.
Here are two more that I discovered:
21. Day of the Dead
22. Egghunt |
