Started a new psytrance analog venture today – NO more software synths.

Cort bass will create the bassline – sampling recorded samples
Real drum kit samples for Percussion
Real Piano, Acoustic + Electric Guitar for leads and melodies, together with an Fx pedal.

I am kinda exited with this project – curious to see what I can come up with. Won’t be 100% psytrance, but some hybrid of sorts.. Probably the closest I would get to software is like layering a 909 with a pearl kick drum (real kick being the body), or some white noise with the snare.

Really just needed to shift towards something new, cause playing with sylenth1 or massive every night never getting a great sound was becoming a drag. (digital sounds so fake to me nowadays)

Anybody else using analog instruments in their tracks ?

Any Tips that I can start with ?

Haha nice one Xsze, bring on the CoB Or, AleStorm! those guys can get you in a real nice mood But, psychedelic wise, I would prefer the good old Cradle of Filth (yeah yeah, I know.. but the keyboard melodies and the guitar harmonies are just amazing, with a good and varied black-metal style drums )

Tips on analogue stuff: get them synced together I usually have them clocked to my PC via midi, and due to the I/O latency, I adjust the midi time compensations to that all fist exactly together (well, I think it's off by 0.04 ms, but I can only set in steps of 0.1 ).

Also, since it's analogue, forget about presets and bring out the recorder (yeah it can be you DAW ) - and rec what you do. Made something cool? record some sessions with it.
You just need to divide you producing methodology into a few more steps, where you need to practice with your instruments, tune them until their instrumentation is as desired, perform them and record them.
Apart of that, you still have your composing (which also exists in the virtual world) plus arranging, producing, mixing, mastering, etc.

There's a good chance you already do all this with your software approach, so it's a matter of getting it fine tuned to your likeings
What is mainly different with analogue gear is the difficulty to recall the settings and re-do that sessions where it all sounded great (plus the coolness of being a little more beefed up "in some opinions" and that analogue randomness of uncertainty).

Hmmmm perhaps its not the tool's fault For sure it wont be getting a new tool that will make you get great sounds, its actually knowing in depth the tools you use

For sure that digital filter are better than analogue ones (note - better is a vague term), but analogue osc are better than virtual ones - without even mentioning tube stuff.

There are tons of tools to increase the "organic" of a digital sound, and in most blind test I bet non here could really detect digital vs analogue (we had tests here in the past ).
Don't be fooled by the "analogue is the only way of getting "that" sound, it's all too digital. It is as it is, and specially it is as you made it           Super Banana Sauce http://www.soundcloud.com/knocz

It's a fun challenge to do (nearly) everything analog.
Just using my Moog Slim Phatty + digital fx and eq's is a huge pleasure.
With some precise layering and equing I'm able to make almost every sound I need to make a track.
Even decent claps and snares I've managed to create by layering a bunch of recorded sounds from my Phatty.
