OK everyone,
If you're like me, you have probably tried to organize and re-organize, and re-re-organize your music library
to get all your tunes in to nice little pockets so you can easily find everything.
Also, though -- if you're like me, you prolly run into the constant problem of categorizing the stuff
that is not directly NAILED by a certain genre.
Examples of the main categories (IMO)
Full-on
Darkpsy
Prog
Goa
SA/Dark-on
Suomi
Ambient
[and obviously these genres can have morning & night sections]
and so on and so on... my real trouble comes with stuff like old IM, or Eat Static, Hux Flux, S.M.I.L.E., Skazi (just to name a few)
We always see people using "Psy" or "Psytrance" as a way to label all the stuff that does not neatly fit elsewhere.
But WTF? How the hell does Psy always end up as a sub-category of itself?
My challenge to Psynewsers... come up with a fitting name to replace this horribly misplaced and poorly tagged sub-category.
We need a good catch-all -- something besides Psy or Psytrance.
Psy to me means all of it, the whole scene...
Anyway - I'm not saying I have the answer, but I know there are many brilliant minds on this forum and I'd love to see what you come up with.
Hit me...
and as always
PsyON
ps... this is also posted on psynews

wanted to get responses from a wider audience

my brain doesn't allow 2much categorizing, donno why? Maybe because I don't like things to be complicated.

I feel insulted at being called a 'Psynewser'.
Here's a suggestion
Sort by artist name. If you don't know what style the artist is by their name, you're not listening to your music.
The only exception is when you're actually making a playlist, either rough or final, for a mix or a set. That helps to filter what you want to play. Other than that, it's either psytrance or its not.

very good point - I gotta just relax and worry more about enjoying the tunes than where to put them on the hard-disc

I was more looking for suggestions than wit here, but I get the point. I agree that listening to the music is way more important than categorizing it. Maybe just sorting by artist will save me time and help me just enjoy music.
Thanks everyone.
I am curious though how many of you use the "Psy" label to classify certain artists or albums. I see this a lot and would at least like suggestions from those of you who use it as to some specific examples of what you would call "psy"
Love, Peace and Cheers to all

I want to know who sorts their music by genre? Does it do that on iTunes? I forget (I don't use iTunes).
Anyway, alphabetically is all that I ever needed.
