I don't often put up tracks for review because frankly I'm not that prolific. However, I'm getting close to being finished with my latest, having been involved with it for almost four months now. It's been fun, and I hope some of you will be able to help me with some constructive feedback. The track clocks in around 7m45s and can (hopefully) be found here:

It's a bit difficult to categorize this one - at 120bpm it's certainly not chill, but it's also not what I'd expect to hear on the dancefloor either. It does have plenty of psy elements, and as with most of my tracks there are many layers, which lends it a fair bit of sophistication... however, I'll let you guys be the judge of that

A few caveats: there are a couple audio glitches because I was forced to record over LAN to a machine with a faster hard drive (long story). The track also has not properly been mastered because I'm still messing with the mix and some of the musical details.

It's also the first track I've completed after having switched to Cubase SX from Logic. At this point I'm quite comfortable with Cubase and consider the switch to have been a good move, especially since I'm PC-based. For the purposes of doing this kind of music, I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

Thanks in advance!

definitely killer track !!

i think its Psy Chill Out... but im not sure

the drum line at the beginning reminded me of rock ballads or something
synth lines are psychedelic
very nice quality and very unusual structure
great production.. send it to the labels
it worths attention !

Thanks man

I am going to fix a few minor things and do the final master this weekend. I might change the "rock drum" snare sound as well - a couple people think it sounds a bit too 80's-ish.

I haven't sent anything to labels in quite a while, but I'm pretty happy with the way the track turned out, so next week I may just spend burning lots of CDs

Well, for all those not familiar with this type of music - it's often reffered to as New-Age. The lack of mastering really shows, and the structure is very good, but the track feels kind of uneven in quality, some parts are wonderful while others aren't bad but aren't fully in place.

With some more effort into this track, it could become a truely amazing musical piece. Keep at it!           http://www.myspace.com/Hooloovoo222

kaz thanks for the comments but I must wholeheartedly disagree with labelling this track as new age. If anyone should know what "New Age" sounds like it's me - I use to DJ a New Age radio show and have hundreds CDs from the genre dating back to the late 70's.

I won't get into the many reasons why it's not new age, but the house-type kick drum sound at 4:00 and the synth lines automatically disqualify it. You can call it chill perhaps, but new age it ain't

Neo-New Age then? Because although this is electronic, it's not quite something I'd define as chill or ambient.           http://www.myspace.com/Hooloovoo222

Well I suppose it doesn't matter what you call it (as long as it's not "new age", hehe) but most folks who have heard it call it simply "downtempo trance".
