Digital Psionics strike back with another class VA, following the success of Psionic Force selected by Tantrum released in December 2014.
Psionic Moon is cosmic sonic adventure steered by Hector Dr.Magnus, dj/promoter at Digital Psionics. He, along with a class selection of artists take us on and intricately balanced psychedelic voyage that’s sure to feed the soul, move the body and blow the mind. This little wonder really has a little something for everyone!
Heading out on our trip, we take off at a soothing pace with Wizack Twizack’s track, Re-Rotter. Get pulled in by the unique, exotic leads and super smooth floaty melodies and psychedelic sweeps. Evolving with mechanics and spacey atmospherics with a thumping chunky bass to boot. This is real feel good track.
The trip is just getting started as we’re met with a “Neural Handshake”, a collab track by well-known Chromatone and Chmcl Mssngr. Here the message is clear.. throw away all your cares, let loose and get lost in the dance. This is deep groove, squared! Sensual, laid-back, funky leads and underlying effects with deep gritty bass lines, all combined to make this a fun, playful number with that classic familiar edge.
Moving deep into our voyage, Asimilon takes us on a psychedelic ride and serves up, “Sunshine of the half-baked mind” This refreshing track has some really cool samples, that goa drive and a splash of funky tech. This is a clever production with everything in its place - subtle rhythmic changes and energetic leads take control. So intriguing and hypnotic that it leaves you wanting more.
Joined forces of Android Spirit (Tickets & Daksinamurti) and Ashley Maclaughlin a.k.a Distant Touch. The opening eerie melody of DisDroid is the queue that something huge is about to happen.. and oh yes, it does! A synergy of sonic elements as vast as industrial, edgy and playful melodies, psychedelic sweeps, windups, groovy toms, cool samples with a touch of humour and subtle electronic sounds are arranged into splendor sure to shake things up.
Next up, Menog breathes new life into the old familiar favourite vs Atomic Pulse, Neural Activity. A touch more Menog melody, boomed up bass and sharper leads and added depth in the production. Cool remix, good to go for another lifetime.
Half-way home and we have a new tasty treat called “Aentropy” from the one and only Scorb. Swirl though the depths and shoot for the moon with some retro samples and undertones, cheeky leads, lots of attitude and those signature Scorb sounds and banging bassline. A little different from his previous work in my opinion.. keeping things interesting, same flawless production.
Label owner and artist Luna Orbit a.k.a Dark Nebula steers us into deep space as we meet, “One reality two another” This tune has so many mesmerizing textures.. it’s the whirlpool galaxy! Get lost in its exquisite soundscape and deep atmospherics.. enjoy the ride with some bouncy twists mind-bending, eclectic leads and deep bass lines.
S.A meets the land of Oz once again as Kieran Grieve a.k.a Rubix Qube and Alex Tantrum blast us with another cracking collab track, “Icarus” …Can you feel the heat?? That’s a solar flare of solid, low bass and pure high octane driving leads right in your face! Power on FULL with fierce, exotic percussion and cheeky sonic attributes, wicked track. Sure to set the floor on fire.
Digitalist picks up the pace, as we head on toward the last stretch of our journey.. and with stretch, I mean the mind and body of course! This is “More than words” ..a sonic festival of sound with liquid leads, light and euphoria to make you lift off the ground. Get lured in by the rhythmic warps, electric beams and twisted techy elements. Much to explore!
We have now reached Psionic Moon, and playing out in stellar fashion we have the captain of this starship Dr. Magnus adding his bit of magic in collaboration with Digitalist in the final track, “Change the World” Feel the gravitational pulls with subtle change-ups in the flow, psychedelic sweeps, mechanically charged effects and sizzling percussion. Chilling synth pad leads and rumbling bassline brings us to the end of a magical experience.
The one recurring thought I have, is that this release not only has something for everyone, but it’s something that everyone should have. It has the ability to take you outside the box and discover frequencies you weren’t tuned in to before, and maybe even discover a side to yourself you didn’t know. This VA in it’s entirety is going straight to the “special” section in my collection, as I’m sure I’ll be re-discovering it for the next 10 years, if not more. It’s a real gem!
