typing as i'm listening. Nice vibe, but i believe one note whistle lead is a bit too upfront - imho it would sond nicer quieter.

why the fuck would you use the same vocal sample as shpongle and untreated? or am i wrong? anyways vocal hooks are not new - everything heard before.

hang sounds a bit plastic.

and after all nothing happens for 10 min - no surprise, no climax.

and imho too much speech, too little music

you need to improve but your idea and concept are great.

its very difficult to make chillout/downtempo you are doing fine but the sound is repetitive and dull...as the friend above said, one main lead, no upcomings,no climax...

but u are in the right way           https://soundcloud.com/ancientaliengoa

@Soma_Happiens, I appreciate the honest feedback.
I don't listen to shpongel / Untreated.
I use Nexus for the Hang drum sounds - If you have a diffrent VST that sounds better I'd love to know
I agree on the climax, I'm trying to do ambient-downtempo for listening not for dancing.

@luizwilhelm, Thanks for the feedback.
About the repetitive sounds I'm playing around with Arp's and combining diffrent rates still working on that - If you know a good tutorial with arp's I'd like to read it.

if you're into downtempo music, you should definitely check shpongle out - they are top notch in the genre - also simon postfords solo as hallucinogen, you should check out ott as well. vocal samples you used come from shpongle production - as you'll dive into it you'll see it yourself

for hang i recently found great sample pack for reason here http://www.leeholmes.com/blog/2010/06/17/hang-drum-for-propellerheads-reason/ . OP provided sampler settings for logic's ESX-24 too - check it out.

it doesn't matter if your tune is for dancing of for listening, it has to surprise a listener, tell him something new, tell a story - bunch of resources here on isra that cover the composition, flow etc.

arp is a great tool to experiment - you can always feed it your original chord progression then jam your keyboard on top with some aditional melodic line - it often comes out with interesting and inspiring results, you can play (as you do) with different rates, different patterns, the order your notes are played (be sure to check out random settings if your arp has them) then you can copy your pattern to track, or bounce as audio and choose the best bits.

all in all as wilhelm said - you're on the right track, so keep twiddling those knobs and good luck mate           In A Society That Has Abolished All Adventure The Only Adventure That Remains Is To Abolish Society
