Zup m8ts..is just that production & dreams

i wanted to know if u guys ever had a dream where u were producing or got any ideas for tracks

in my personal experience ive had like 4 of these.very use full n cool hehe.
1 was me synthesizing on Discovery Pro nad got a killer synth.
in the other dream i was making a bassline and it was being played over and over. when woke up i remembered the notes on the piano roll and how it sounded then draw it on real life and got same bassline (this one was pretty cool)

and the other was that i was like in some mountain or something with tall trees..all jungle-ish..and this nice melody came out of nowhere.then guess what..hehe..tried to take out the melody on my piano and got pretty much same as the dream one

now share urs! if u have lol

B0om!

YES! I've done this too man! With a rock song that I made.

I even looked into getting a lucid dreaming book so I could control my dreams and have them generate song ideas that I could use. I haven't really gotten hardcore into it enough though.

But I didn't know many people did this. VERY COOL.           www.musicproductionnatural.com || www.facebook.com/djamoeba | facebook page

Yea one night i had one dream that went for aages, and the whole time a 2 bar loop was going over and over at about 120 bpm. It was a deep and dirty bass guitar with ambient electric guitar finger picking over the top and barely noticeable strumming with a wah-wah pedal, and a 4/4 kick drum. Very creepy but cool. As soon as i woke up i jumped on ableton and whistled the parts in before they faded in my mind. After a bit of playing around and tweaking i got it to sound exactly how it was in the dream . It's only a 2 bar loop at 120 bpm though, so i dunno what i'll do with it.

At other times I've had entire songs in my dreams, but haven't had the energy to get up out of bed and get them down before they faded.

I have it regularely for years, actually quite many. The hardest part is to awake and write down ^^.
Many years ago it was only lyrics or sorta sample sources or flashbacks from some often heard soundtracks or a plan to build up some serious orchestry with samples.Different genre different dreams.
And recently its all kind of things about production but I dont get up extra for it anymore hehe.
Too many of it or too less of those idea really worth to get up and work it out or save the idea out .Ideas are flowing so if a must have come to mind than I will awake and finish the idea^^.
Best lucid dreams are of another kind here.

I started following this music in '99, when I was still in the Army. Trance had an indirect influence to my early departure from that organization, too. Due to that whole story I lost all my education benefits and had no direction, no money, no real future prospects. I was living by myslef in a barely furnished studio apartment in a shitty industrial park area of my city and barely eating, and a big part of that was because I was constantly going to parties and doing all the hallucinogenic drugs I could get my hands on... dropping tabs and munching beans like they were candy. It got to the point where my life was literally unraveling before my eyes. I had no real friends because I hadn't been living in that city for very long. During one comedown from a weekend long trip, sitting alone in my place, waiting for the walls to stop melting, I realized how I was going nowhere fast, and how seriously badly I was treating my body and mind. My love of the music had been replaced by my love of the drugs. My money was gone as fast as I got it, and I didn't even have a meal in my fridge to show for it. A voice I had been ignoring for too long began talking to me in my head, pointing all these things out to me. I had to do something to turn my life around.

It was then that I decided to reassert my priorities. I had to find my love of the music again. I stopped partying, stopped doing drugs, and bought my first pair of Technics, a mixer, and 10 or 12 Goa vinyls. Juno Reactor, Hallucinogen, SUN Project, Etnica, shit like that. I took all my party money and dumped it into gear and records.

It was my newfound love of my turntables alone that inspired me to move out of the really dangerous neighborhood I lived in. I moved out of state and in with an old friend, with nothing but my music stuff and a trash bag of clothes. I detoxified, got a job waiting tables, and spent all of my free time learning as much as I could about this music and practicing mixing.

My life began to go back uphill. I began to feel happy and hopeful again. I began to find people who were interested in similar things (there was no psy/goa scene where I was, so I hung out a lot with house and drum and bass heads). Within the next year or so, I was offered my first club booking. Nobody there had ever heard of Goa Trance before. They seemed to like it, always demanding an encore even when the after hour club wanted to shut me down, and I began to be re-invited to different functions. I couldn't believe it. I felt like I was being blessed, that I had found a purpose and a zeal and a passion and hope in what I was doing. I was making people smile and making myself smile also.

But I couldn't stop there. My highly analytical mentality constantly dissected the music, tried thinking of ways to take what I was doing a step further, and immerse myself deeper. Musical numbers were flying through my head, and my sleeping and waking thoughts were as littered with spinning objects and cables and numerical music as was the floor and walls of my bedroom. I began buying synth hardware... first the "toys"... the Electribes, a 505, Kaoss Pads, stuff like that. I spent all of my time with a knob or some gear in my hand like some sort of techno-hermit, learning about MIDI and music theory and anything else I could, while also upgrading my gear and getting the essential hands on experience over the years as a DJ who slowly evolved into a full live act.

This journey of mine has been almost a decade in the making, and nowadays, this music has been a huge factor in many things, including my current travel and residency in Europe. And with every little goal I have set for myself that I reach, I realize the horizon is always there, how much I still have to learn, and how far I still have to go. It was always the moments where I realized I know nothing, and the moments where I gave up or let go of what I thought I knew, that I learned the most... about myself, about this music, about life. It's been a dream I've been following for years, and I still dream of following it and exploring it as long as I still have the heart to. And very importantly, I could not have, nor could I be now, doing what I do were it not for the people who believed in me enough to help and support me so selflessly in their own ways throughout this time. I thank those people in my dreams and my thoughts every day and I hope that I make them proud.

I know that in the grand scheme of things, I am relatively new. That I have a LOT to learn. I have met so many wonderful freaks along the way, and seen a lot of wonderful places along the way. But I wouldn't trade in this life for a second. Trance music has helped me make a better person. I speak 6 languages, but through producing trance music, I feel I can say things I want to say which no word can express. The least I can do is put every ounce of energy into doing the best I can, to give 100%, to keep an open mind and heart, to help those around me whenever I can, and to always try to learn... especially from the moments where I falter. This music has blessed me with so many positive things in my life that that is the very least I can do to give something back.

I'm not sure if that's the sort of response you were looking for, but that's what the dreaming and production have meant to me.
