Checked the samples up on Saikosounds. Although I do think that the overall production is quite nice, the synths sound plastic and the melodies are uber-cheesy, typical Protoculture stuff really. This sounds a lot closer to hands-in-the-air-euro-trance than psy-trance. Although I am not buying this LP, I wouldn't mind having a few fluffy pilled up moments with the missus/mates on the dancefloor whilst these tunes were coming out of the P.A.
As expected, the music is "shallow" though. Everything is obvious and already chewed up for the listener to digest with ease and like I said, the cheese on this CD would probably make up for a year's worth of cheese and pickle sandwiches.
Also one tune on there, sounds like its ripping off the "Paros 2000" riff big time, only not doing it as good.
The people that like the fluffyness will be over the moon with this one.

I love Protoculture & always will!
I'll check out the samples anyway (when they're available), even though I know I'm buying this one! Album will be realesed soon!!
He's simply amazing when it comes to creation/production...
Like I've said b4, everyone has different tastes when it come to music, and to me Nate rules!
Great "promo" post for Protoculture "14-year old e-tard"!! I can see the sales numbers rising after that one!
(Listening to Magnetik yet again... oldie but still a great track!!)
Peace!

Although I thought New Directions was alright, I am not a fan of his music.
But I do think that we need artists like him that have their own sound. He "sticks to his guns", instead of jumping on bandwagons and I have a lot of respect for artists that do that, especially in such a trend crazed scene as this one.
So yeah, best of luck to him

Info
: Nate Raubenheimer, aka Protoculture, started his music career at an early age with classical piano and jazz, before receiving his first computer at the tender age of 12. Starting off with old sequencers such as Voyetra Pro and Fast Tracker, he quickly started experimenting with electronic styles of music. Originally inspired by breakbeat, house and techno artists such as Orbital, Crystal Method, Prodigy, Chemical Brothers and BT, amongst others, he originally began with producing similar styles before being introduced to psy trance by the owners of Nano Records.
After signing with the Nano, Nate went on to produce Super Highway Samurai, originally released on Spiral Trax’s “Mechanism”, which showed off his love for lush, melodic, and emotional sounds. Highly acclaimed tracks such as “Synergism” and “Ultraphunktional” followed before a change in direction in the smash hit “New Directions” was realized. Nate went on to release his debut album, “Refractions” which was extremily well received and earned him his place in psy trance music culture.
As a result of the success of “Refractions”, Nate saw himself traveling all over the world to perform. To date, he has performed on every continent all over the world including Japan, Mexico, Brazil, England, Germany, France, Australia, Spain, Denmark, Portugal and more. Nate has also appeared at festivals as diverse as Glastonbury in England, which sees about 200 000 people every year.
Nate has also received recognition from outside of the psy scene, playing along side world renowned dj’s and producers such as John 00 Flemming, Anthony Papa and Phil Hartnoll (AKA Orbital), to name but a few. He has also had tracks released by the Glade festival as well as being featured IDJ and White Label Republic, both mixed by John 00 Flemming.
Recently, Nate released his long awaited second album, the follow up to his dj compilation, “Natural Selection”, with great success. Other future projects also include a collaboration with Atomic Pulse, as well as a down tempo project under the name “Ghost”....
In april this year Nate relesed his second album 'Circadians' ,with hits such as Terra Tronics,Driven,Out Of Reality , Circadians,etc....
