Nice but the music is far from being impressive. At best mediocre.
True and i agree but with what I can see the attempt to create what we hear in these videos LIVE is worth appreciating.... Perhaps creating better sounds and transitions using experience is what can create magic IMO.
I would love to see some super production being LIVE as seen being performed in the videos ^^.

well thats a studio act...a live act without crowd is not really live...though it would be much the same, its still not...its like masturbation vs sex with another person...both are good but its not the same...theres obviously the pressure of performing thats there in what we call a Live PA and offcourse there is that element that you might not get paid...though a real live set would look like the videos but without the crowd there can be no live set..you cannot be an audience to yourself

His energy and overall performance gave me goose bumps You can actually see the enthusiasm in what he is doing.... great stuff
I honestly get nothing from these "performances"...if anything I would be more interested to hear a recording of what they could do over multiple takes..what could the artist express without the massive limitations of the gear playing live, limitations that simply don't need to be there because of technology. Its the exact reason to play an electronic instrument.
Since hippies like this kind of philosophical nonsense here to me is a "proper live act"...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wu_wei The taoist idea of "doing nothing" in song...
Maybe his string breaks, forgets the next note, the chair leg breaks, someone heckles during the performance, the song just sucks, the guitar is out of tune, his nails break, the mic/amp break...the reason there is magic in this is because none of the above happen and all you get is a guy playing the most beautiful music you have ever heard.
If you want a "proper live act" then forget electronic music and play an acoustic one.
Its not that long ago in the history of electronic music that a DJ was just called "tape". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brain_in_a_vat
dude.. go away.. i think they're talking about electronic live acts.. not this sappy shit.
"i honoustly get nothing from this 'performance'"
btw.

For me the music will always come before any discussion whether it´s actually live or not even comes up. Who cares if it´s live or not? If it can´t at least somehow live up to the possibilities that can be had in a studio production environment.
If more resources could be allocated towards promoting this trend then perhaps you would see more live sets taking place outside the confines of peoples bedrooms. Artists need shitloads of gear, room on stage, long time for setup and soundcheck and incidentally to make enough money to make it worth bringing expensive gear on the road(or be lucky if the organizers manage to get just half of the gear you need). Just bringing a computer and some controllers is hardly what constitutes a full studio. Try seeing how much of even a small studio actually fits in a suitcase and then lug it around moroccan beaches or where ever the gig may take place. You will quickly reach the conclusion i have, which is that compromises must be made. Thats not to say that technology doesnt offer cool ways of interacting with it, but very few of these are being explored. Close your eyes and listen to the music instead!!!

I had the rare priviledge of VJing alongside EatStatic just before Joie quit, and left Merv as the only member.
Overall all the ten or so years i've had playing alongside some of the various biggest names in the psytrance scene, the sheer enthusiasm and energy that they both poured into their performance was inspiring. I also got to witness Merv coming off stage, dripping with sweat, and utterly exhausted, looking like "death warmed up"... As the crowd roared and cheered for an encore, it was like an invisible spirit seemed to revive him, and giving him another wave of energy, as him and Joie looked at each other, and went back on stage to play out a few extra tracks to the delight of the crowd.
Much kudos...
