Is there anyone who actually reads the promo text for cds and artists, etc?
What makes you read it? Being short, long, flashing words?

i read
it depend on the artists and if the cd samples are good...
if so... then i read
if not
i don't read and not listen and not buy 
ps- i mostly read it after i get the album hehe

I sometimes read it, but you shouldn't really take it seriously. Mostly it's some b******t like "A delightful, groundbreaking neo full on release, that will be a milestone for years to come. It's a must-have in every DJ's case, as well as for home listening, as every track is a breathtaking journey that will kill dancefloors worldwide!!!". (I just made that up, but feel free to copy/paste it as the promo-text of your upcoming full on releases  )
I find TIP Worlds own reviews quite entertaining though

well,
i used to be stupid and believe whatever was written there...but then nobody is going to write "The same full-on shit that you've heard 100 times before...buy it if you want, otherwise we'll find somebody who does...(and delete all those mp3 samples you downloaded before you go)"
so nowadays, i try to be more clever, read what ppl here say, listen to the samples etc before deciding on buying it |

I enjoy it... but definitely Raja Ram's rantings on TIP World releases make it almost worht buying itself, he;s being doing it from the start, and it's just so funny, his head must be so damn f*c*ed up!! |

the promos are just ways to induce people to spread good words about the cd with their friends...............it is a completely biased review of the CD......hence not much relevant in judging the CD

same here, they are always funny
the rest are pretty much what pr0fane said...crap...
on the other hand I always read any text on any album or compil that I buy...and I really like it when artists give out short infos about their tracks

Promo text for album releases from single artists can be very informative... however promo text for the ubiquitous compilations tend to be the same old stuff...

Reading the text on sites like psyshop/etc, pretty much same thing - "groung breaking new full-on release with floor-burners that will get the people stomping"
... every release is the new "must have CD of the year"
much rather read the reviews on here, and generally enjoy reading DeathPostures and Le Lotus Bleu's reviews. After reading them, I have a pretty good idea of what to expect .. may not agree with what they have to say all the time, but still find them informative/usefull. |
