this is a great topic to complain with!
i love you Goblim! very fun to complain about commercial music in the psy scene.
most music was made for a beer at most, maybe a joint. some music is for speed and coke, some for acid, some for shrooms,
depends the person also...their age, their experience.
i think most music is not very deep because the artist never suffered like an old blues-man. if the artist never got beaten, was instantly popular with first tracks, or otherwise got some unrealistic expectation-

i think Dark trance is for anti-social angry youth that are headed straight for jail, rehab, or joining a terrorist cell.
i think Proggies are drunks and would use all your drugs if you left them by accident at their house.

I know a few people that were born rich (wealthy...depends on your definition of rich) and made great sounding tunes. So ease up on the finger pointing.

second best thing i did ever was sell my virus. ;-)
(at least since the VSTs actually caught up... was kind of handy in cubase-VST days...)
kind of wish I hadn't sold my juno 60....

can you filter that, timestretch it to 127bpm, and put a ripping bassline and poppy phat kick, maybe some shuffled hats, some funky snares with automated delays,
put a big wailing crazy lp filter lead opening up at the break and it should do the trick...

hey man- calling psy trancers "trust fund kids" is a timehonored american tradition!
maybe northern europe its the opposite- all trancers are state sponsored spliff consumers of the first degree.
full on people just started listening to psy, practice their dance moves in the mirror, and care more about their tattoos than who is playing. they are the popular normal people and often wear baseball hats and did well in sports in high school.
dark trancers listen to noise and think they are better than you because they hear cool sounds in the phrizzphruzz. who is playing matters more than the actual sound you are hearing at that moment. fast bpms are good. the faster the better. they just might have played role-playing-games and youths and are probably boys or boy-ish girls.
i stand by my first definition. proggies like to get fucked up. beer is often preferred to wine, unfortunately for the collective party breath.
oh yes i forgot to mention
dark ravers, people who still have space tribe shirts or weirder yet, pants.
people who dont actually have names but they come to every party and smile a lot.
people who wish it was more like 70s prog rock or jazz fusion, people who think skazi is a guitar virtuoso, people who probably listen to coldplay not electronic during the week, and people who only like to bitch.
i am one of the latter apparently.
you know that book of fairies, with all the listings for the different kinds?
