So interesting whats going on here!
After reading all this..
I think anakoluth hits the point, progressive music (as most use the word) is music which is always taking the listeners attention, guiding to a summit...
Unfortunately most of the tracks don't have a "speaking" summit.... but fortunately the next track comes, and everybody waits for nothing again...
This makes what one guy wrote... gets you into a trance, emptys your mind...
Just as watching television. You seat there wait for something, watching... after all youre empty, turn off, same as drinking alkohol.
Progressive music (without real speaking summit in the end) is a drug like alkohol, helping to turn off, helping to get rid of stress of everydays live.
It's definitly not my style then...
I like the progressive build up principle, but only if it leads somewhere, actually I mean to a feeling..
Some here are missing psy, others don't like prog and so on...
Actually I think it's all about missing genuiness, missing feelings in a lot of the music, doesn't matter which style...
Especially the music often called "progressive" makes you waiting, but never tells you something
Never leads you somewhere... it's a drug helping to displace feelings.
IMHO
But the progressiv structure could also be used to bring the listener deeeeeep into his subconscious and shows him there his displaced feelings... I do it that way...
bye

For me (and i think 4 a lot of people) its a major mistake put label's in trance music.
I like music, i like to go to party's and have fun with my girl and my friends....its only a question of good vibes.
Can u please write 10 names of:
Progressive trance
Full on
Goa
and why the labels??
PS- please forget my post .I'm not a expert i'm only a guy o love the trance scene and love to put recrds to me and my friends... |

Yes traveller, Benji is extremely progressive, if you look at it from a structure point of view. Progressive doesnt have to be 136-138 BPM, monotonius, dark and all these things we associate with the traditional 'progressive'.

What I always say is that progressive is an adjective, not a noun. As a description, it's rarely a complete one. Prometheus is progressive (and psychedelic), Shiva Chandra is progressive (and minimal), Wizzy Noise are progressive (and full-on - or techtrance for earlier stuff), and more examples from all over the place.

always thought like what kaz said...
progressive can be minimal and can be techtrance and it can be full-on..
and all of these music is psychedelic..

hha dont be wrong by the look, its all a hippy pose, psytrance is the most closed mind party people !
i ment most trance people like the same tunes each and each party, same music in the same hours, morning like this night like that, and so on and on..... and ye, also the sounds of their bongs.......
