no no no .. people . don't be cool , don't be openmind .. don't get stuck in your music .... be yourself

try different things like ...

'psychedelic country', 'full-on schlager' and last but not least 'progressive football anthems' (like Balicki did once in a while)

after years of discussions coming from everywhere ..I started hating those oh so trippy flashy style names .. like neo-full on , yeah even progressive i don't like to use anymore ... it's all just a trend.

although I like the word TRANCE
the music , rhythm , dreamy tribalistic , sexy destorted sounds and grooves that makes you feel in this hypnotised state of mind - TRANCE .

but on the other side you can't even imagine that everything should have the same name ...

maybe we should discuss further and try to come up with a new name for progressive trance ??? we have to be unique and orginal , like the progression of goatrance always has been ...

Yes Sinthax, it´s not a must... But when u say prog is everything that´s new u´r just saying who doesn´t like it is a close-minded squared reactionnary... That´s fine... I´ll come up with a new bass line and call it GOOD... So I´ll go around asking pp if they like GOOD music... Is it fair?

Progressive trance is not the new trance, the housy one af... I like new stuff, but I don´t like prog... which for me is a slower, more marked, emptier, with longer (not more or better, longer) melodies. This is it, I prefer faster, more stomped, full (why not) of fx, slashed right though music. And pp hv been used to call it full-on... that´s it.

Saying prog is the new trance and who doesn´t like it is stuck in the past is just disrespectfull.

When you´re talking about progressive (the genre) is one thing, when you r mistaken it with the way trance progress, u´re disrespecting all the other subgenres... And this line of thought is THE COOL ONE NOWADAYS... hope u guys enjoy being cool till it changes.

Detox: Psytrance was never a house subgenre, but it's starting to sound more and more like one. That's what I meant.           http://www.myspace.com/Hooloovoo222

I like to be challenged by music i hear, i want it to make me feel uncomfortable and to make me think deeply. Fact is most of the "progressive" (please, you know what i mean) psy acts around these days do not do this. Sure they make music that is good for dancing, its fun to bop around to and sure on another level some of the music is technically and musically brilliant...but what about the vibe? This is what got me into this music to start with, the weird as fuck alien atmospheric dark vibe that gives a track more meaning than just to dance to. Of course i like and appreciate many styles, but we are talking about psy trance yeh and this type of dark moody ballsy atmospheric and minimalistic psytrance is so rare these days. The other day i heard tryptamin on iboga from years ago, fuck it sounded tatsy...so deep, give me that any day over most of their new stuff...

And here we go
Another "prgressive vs full on" thread.

I'm having enough of these discussions.

Look, when goa trance music changed, they also changed the names: It started with psytrance and then it moved to full on and progressive.
So I guess it's only fair that when progressive music changes this way, without any element of psychadelia - I guess it's only fair the name should change too.
It's an insult to the old progressive stuff. The old Shiva Chandra for example.

Change the name, but don't call this trance, cause for me this is certainly not. Call this progressive house, tech house. Whatever. Find a new name. But take this off the trance lexicon.
I know I'm harsh (and probably will be killed on the spot by you) but this is the way I feel.
This is one of the reasons why I'm moving slowly and surely to full on and yes, even to Finnish trance, where you can get all the psychadelia you want. Music with no bounderies, just the way trance music should be. Not like the progressive trance today where everything is so predictable, so within margins.

My thoughts exactly!

I barely listened to trance for some time. The new releases aren't interesting enough, the scene is changing, killa bassline tracks pop up every day, not quite as musically challenging as older releases.

Send me a PM when trance will become interesting again. Till then, I'll be listening to some prog rock and IDM

I agree the main thing in psy- trance is or was - psy -

But it seems that people have different perceptions and opinions on what is psychedelic.

Who knows maybe psychedelic is something very personal?

This is what I found in my dictionairy:

psy·che·del·ic : Of, characterized by, or generating hallucinations, distortions of perception, altered states of awareness, and occasionally states resembling psychosis.

Why is it so important for you to label music? Who cares if it's called A or B?

To me it's music. Finito

It's getting kind of old to hear people "whine" about why they don't like a certain genre or why it should be labeled A or B. Who cares? I don't care what you people like and I am sure you don't care if I like this or that !

Respect eachothers taste and give an input to a topic if you got something of value to input - not just because you don't like someones taste.

End og my two cents

Yes i agree, labels are pointless. I think what some of us are getting at though is that their is a certain "style' of "psy-trance" that is becoming very rare these days, and almost dissapearing...and those of us who really dig this style are becoming worried with this trend.

why ?? trance is a state of the mind ... I always thought the psytrance does not have huge differents with commercial trance ... ofcourse I mean basic . there is more use in synthlines and effects compared to house and techno ...

and an important thing is ... there is another mentality and attitude in this scene.. we love to dance but don't like the club scenes , i really don't want to go out wearing particular clothes for getting acces to the club ...
people come for the music whether it is full-ohm or progressive (hope so), not for the booze , the pills, the hot chicks or just to have a fight maybe ;-)

even in this scene the drug use is changing .. maybe due to the age .. i dunno . but full-on and progressive have a growing amount of cocaïne users (based on the facts i've seen @ Voov this year , to much dope , dealers .. and imo Samothraki will be the same )and you can feel that .. the vibe is fading slowly ..

just like the hippie scene thirty years ago , same scenario ...

I don't like dope , but I do like the trance dance .
enough bullshit , i'll just listen to Antix-Lull one more time and stop thinking about all those silly discussions ... greetz
