That style is pretty huge in the German prog/psy scene - and I can't complain at all since I love it.

For artists, just look through my record collection.

It's evolution! We don't have to stay at minimal sounds..We need more fat basslines and more dancable music in gen
Check D-nox,Beckers,Motion,Ticon and many others! And if you want more energetic suff check www.boshkebeats.com it's more techy and fast tunes!

The boundaries between progressive trance and house are becoming thiner... But it's true that actually more synths are being used...

My recommendations:

* The master of progressive house (deep dark quality quality): Moshic (www.moshic.com)
* Progressive classics: John Digweed and Sasha
* Another quality DJs/producers: Danny Howells, Chris Fortier
* You can also check Satoshi Tomi, James Holden, Nic Fanciulli...

I think it is a global need, after years of "specialization" that have brought good things to each specific styles, we somehow came to an end, and now it's time to dip into what's best in all these specific styles..

It does not happen only with progressive trance, I mean some HipHopers understood this too, and you have names like DizZee Rascal, or Wax Taylor that merge many different electronic influences.. In techno, Abe Duque in example remembers the days House music and HipHop were setting together the dancefloors on fire, and injects elektro touches in his mixture..

People it's about time for FREEDOM once again..

Let's surprise us !

It seems that in a near future psy/prog/house wil be a unique style of music.

suggestions:

Kinetico (very very nice deep hypnotic melodies. Eg. Sconoschiuto, Sincerity and ANY other! I really love this guy.)
Beckers
Synchro
Tegma
Necton

HOW TRUE!

It's becoming more and more difficult to categorize different genres/sub-genres, and i think it's better for the music, as you said more freedome, more creativity as well!

ElectroGirl, wanted also to suggest a progressive house/trance DJ/Producer actually on the rise, the Argentinian Hernan Cattaneo
