...but not too different: 140bpm. i'm not a huge fan of dancing to slow <137 bpm prog... i just don't find it keeps me bouncing. but at the same time, >144 gets really overdone and it seldom lets me hear the full reverb depth i want to.

the soundcloud description says all:

a work-in-progress. the final climax's bass and drums are completed but not included in this upload. will post when leads, grooves, and fx have been filled in.

Created mostly in one night after a gorgeous morning at Montreal's Cafe Myriade - some of the best espresso the world has to offer can be found there           Dance, even if you have nowhere to do it but your living room. ~Kurt Vonnegut

glad to hear!

i've already added some more and changed a couple parts... raised the volume on the hats... tightened the low end in a couple parts (at least i think)....

i'll post when the track is more complete.           Dance, even if you have nowhere to do it but your living room. ~Kurt Vonnegut

cardinals cartel - thanks mate! yeah, that intro i threw together in 10 seconds just so i could post it ! ha. will definitely fix! uhm... as for the pads... i was thinking about it. i'm really loving the zenon style lately (when played a little faster, like this) and them folk use little to no pads where most other artists would... i'll test a version with a couple pads, with pads almost all throughout, and no pads - and see what i like. maybe i'll take away the melodies i'm "meh" about and fill up that harmonic range with pads

fellriot - i used a sampled saw from the esm1 synth on logic, BUT if you want to make the same-ish, do this on any synth:

waveform: saw
amp envelope attack: 0-1ms
amp envelope decay: 119ms
amp envelope release: 31ms
filter envelope decay: 50-60ms
filter envelope amount: "55%" on the sampler i'm using.
ALSO, i used notes just short of 1/32 notes in length, and i'm using a lowpass filter on it all at about 1000hz, though i'd say 1500-2500 or even higher (!) for melodic bass. no compressor, and a slight eq cut at 320hz or so.
