I know Henrik (metronome) and he uses samples, so he probably layers them, not everyone makes kick from scratch, in fact many use good samples           https://soundcloud.com/pro-gram-0

With bazzism I always find myself carving out the mids with a quite heavy cut somewhere between 300-600 hz with an EQ. Makes the kick nice and "soft", without loosing punch.
Also a small boost around the thump is mostly good for the fundament, this depends on your lowest freq / base freq of the kick.

Without EQ the kick is too harsh and boxy for my liking and I'm also more after the Proggy kind of kicks.

Getting the envelope in the second bazzism window right is also important. Try differentiating between the different parts of the kick, i.e. attack, decay etc.
I mostly put 5 or 6 "points" there and also carve out the parts I don't need.

Forgot to mention, but this is most probably the most important thing:
Try to match your kick with your bass from the beginning. Get the fStart and fEnd value of bazzism right, especially the low fundament of the kick, as this is the frequency where the kick ends and the bass starts with in a usual proggy bass pattern.

Fiddle around with the sweep values and the tEnd a bit, until you have a nice and strong kick that supplements the groove of your kick/bass combo.
tDecay is also important to shorten the kick afterwards, so it doesn't overlap with your first bass note.

There is a nice synergy going on between tEnd and tDecay. By turning up tEnd quite a bit, you can give the kick a nice and heavy "weight". Then shorten to taste with tDecay.

It's all about getting the balance right, just like with getting the envelopes of your bass sound right.

Don't be frightened to go back and forth between your kick and bass and fiddle around until you have a nice groove going on.

If you've done it a few times, it get's quite fast and easy...I promise

Iv got very good results with romero kick vst, but i mostly do fullon kicks..! for these boomy prog kicks i think u need to layer like PRO-Gram says. the hardest part for making your own kicks is the monitoring, the acoustics and your ears need to be trained to.

with bazzism you can do basicly any kick for eletronic music... but its very raw so u better don lots of cut includin even lowerin the lowers with shelf if u dont wanna get deaf....

as stated its important to fix the lower and higher freq to some harmonic of the bass , and get the timin of the sweep right...bein progressive u can use longer kicks

Stick to braintrains recipe pretty much - you could also try and throw a tape saturation at it. This will if used subtely add analog flavour compression and drive. There is also a new deadmau5 samplepack for free on splice that features nice kicks suited for prog.
