@ psynthex
yeah stranger said to me that u cant roll on such basslines forever.. And if he finds himself in minimal its cool like you said..
@ septa
Its just that I havent heard about that style name ever and if u dont know the style it brings confusion when talking about it, like it did now.. But luckily we sorted it out..
I said its just progressive to me, nothing less and nothing more.. Cause Im listening to this music way back when there was no strangers and antix and u couldnt clasify it as progressive house nor trance.. It was just progressive.. Than things start to split and subgenres get into way..

And that minimal psy/progressive or new age techno like psynthex said is called minimal psy than what is delta and artist like it? To me thats minimal psy.. They call it minimal psy tech-trance.. So it would be better to discribe that new age techno as minimal progressive trance and delta as minimal psy.. Thats why I called this progressive trance.. Its all good if its good music and we know about what are we talking..           http://www.facebook.com/xrayzproductions

this is the first time i'm hearing of "new-age techno." what exactly do you guys mean by this?

and the delta to me is pure tech-trance (well, i haven't heard the recent album and don't know if he's going into a different direction... i'm talking about the sound on "Send in..." etc.).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Progressive_dance_music

if you look at Progressive Trance, they are talking about people like Laurent Veronnez, Sasha , Mike Dierickx, Matt Darey, Paul Oakenfold, Paul van Dyk, Armin Van Buuren, Tiesto, Brian Transeau (aka BT), and more recently, Markus Schulz.

[sidenote, they also mention Vibrasphere, which I guess partly is correct as some of their stuff is pretty fluffy, but even still, it's the mighty Vibrasphere and it's right on the edge of fluffiness that i can tolerate.]

i think that's exactly what majority of people think when you say Progressive Trance. if you are not deaf, i hope you can tell the difference in style between Armin Van Buuren and Son Kite. so to distinguish them, people generally use the term Progressive Psy. since this site is mostly Psy oriented, people can simply say Prog and it is generally understood what we are talking about.

that's my personal take on this. it might very well be wrong. but that's what i think and it's something for which i cannot provide any kind of proof or confirmation beyond what i already said.

Nice one septa.. I agree with you on vibrasphere, they are only one which could be called progressive trance.. And yes ur right thats what the majority means.. Under majority I mean masses who suck commercial music.. And yes ur right if u call it progressive only, thats what I call it, like I said, nothing more and nothing less..
I used term progressive trance just cause I dont even take music like sasha into account at all.. Its just that this proggy psy term puzzled me cause I havent heard it before, I meant its some faster version of stuff like antix and such that I even didnt knew it exists.. So, can it be just proggy from now on so we dont get into so much confusion..

@ AdrianPsy
You should check that wiki article cause their definition of progressive is good its just that they use most commercial representatives of artists in that genre.. So my personal definition of that style in the end would be underground progressive trance or for us trancers just proggy..          http://www.facebook.com/xrayzproductions

it seems most progressive comes from "the north" ...

except some israeli labels, like VP Rec, Domo Rec, No Label Rec ... hmm ... Dance'n Dust.

a shame no one mentioned Atmos or Lando up until now           http://www.myspace.com/realtimeproject

+1 on iono. and zenon records, for some very non-fluffy progressive. i've been listening to sensient and the cujorious one a lot lately. really great stuff.

I would say most progressive comes from sweden, malmo to be precise.. And my opinion on it is cause they produce Nords and they are probably cheap up there so they all have nice synths and by the time such synth get to other countries it worths a fortune..

Only good progressive on balkan where I live comes from new group Zyce and Fox from Serbia, but they copy son kite a lot, also Duca from Serbia produces good minimal progressive..
Blue tunes recordings also releases some good proggy          http://www.facebook.com/xrayzproductions

Enlighten me on techniques, plugins etc

a quick tutorial:
set 140bpm ... k_b_k_b_k_b_k_b_ ...
play with the decay of the bass until it rolls ...
add pads, percussion and crap.

side-chaining could be useful on some sort of progressive basslines, too.
