I heard more than once ppl say that the European progressive of today is to close to house music.
.
For example: VA -Lime light
I don't think that it's close. There is a big difference between the 2 styles. What do u think?
There are ppl that say that the Israeli progg is to close to full on
YOTOPIA
ETIC
LISH
imo its only full on bass line but all the rest is progg.
---
Any way, I love this 2 sides of the coin. And in this days where there are not many original psy artists I see progressive Trance as my shelter.

IMO European artists draw some influences from the Tech-House and Deep/Tribal house. I've heard lots of really good proggy stuff with true Electro influences, which comes straight from Germany with its exploding electro/minimal/electroclash scenes.

Dude what the hell do u care what ppl say?
If it's good music what's the diffrence what ppl say as long as you like it?
Does your taste in music depend on what other ppl say?
Just dance!

@Chaos Theory
Actually, it doesnt really matter if you ask me - Its great, trance inducing music, and thats whats important.
<And God said - First there was Goa Trance, and it was good - Then God Said, it must be named Psychedelic Trance, because it HAS to be psychedelic... ZzZZZZ >
I think, its house music that is close to progressive, and not the other way around :-P The path from older trance releases to progressive house is in my eyes shorter than the path from funky/deep house to trance.
Tribal & Tech House comes close, or is even the same as whatever is released into the psy scene from some labels these days.
It doesnt matter... If anyone wants truely psychedelic trance, go for parvati releases and the likes (and if they do not think that is psychedelic, go for something else - like exogenic, demontea and so forth).
Psychedelic = not the same as good.
Progressive = not the same as good
trance inducing = same as good.
At least for me
Sorry if I seem a bit hyper in what I write - I just sense that your post is secretly about whether it is "ok or not" to try out a new sound
Perhaps you didnt intend it that way - but if I can understand it like that - Im sure others can as well - and we can be bogged down once more in genre trench warfare hehe
Best Wishes

You may loose your passion for full on, but dont worry, just dont loose your passion for music all together.
Be strong

chaos t., it's perfectly normal that you are getting into proggressive at this point. It's all about cycles (or 'psycles' (hey new word!)). It's a natural progression, like the flow of music at a party. I know for myself I go through cycles , between full on and progressive (minimal actually), about every two years. I feel like mellowing out a bit after raging to crazy psychedelic for a while. I feel like it's a process of maturing and growing.
I'm happy for you that you're appreciating something different than what you had been. And it's not to say you'll never like full on again cos you will, but coming from a more musically mature place.
Congratulations and hope you discover lots of great music on your journey.

I think that we've made a big mess with all these tags (Progressive, Psychedelic, Full-on, dark, minimal...)
I mean that it's silly to make such a big discrimination in this whole scene, coz in reality they're all under the same roof.
I like "progressive" from Lish, Yotopia, Freq
I also like "Full-on" from Sun Control Species, Sensum, Mr.Peculiar
I very much enjoy minimal/experimental grooves from Sensient, Shadow Fx etc..
Give this stuff to someone who's never listened to psy before, and he'll tell you it's more or less the same thing. It's good music Vs Bad music...4 me atleast
  Bring yourselves into the light
