I'm an old user of Linux Slackware, it's my main operational system.
It works better than Windows for every task, but still I sometimes have to swith to Windows (which I emule with VMWARE or WineX) to run some softwares, like Sony SoundForge.
Anyone know any Linux alternative to SoundForge?
I already used the search, there are some topics about linux, but people seems to be lost, and none about this problem...
Thanks!

Hey man, i can't reply your question but i was searching for somebody that produces music using linux, guess i found him. Is there any studio software for linux, such as Ableton Live, Cubase or Reason?? I always used linux (slacky also) and its one billion times better than windows (WINDOWS SUXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX), but most of the good stuff comes out only for windows. Ok, c ya |

have fun!!! Great stuff that slackware... But isn't it improved for networking and firewalls and such? i'd use a gentoo, which is optimised for choice and performance... Or the debian, which is the standard u can optimise for anything u want... But look around under that link, there is even a linux audio cd that boots the os from the cd, u don't even need to have linux installed, just enter the cd, set it as the boot device and it'll load linux automatically... That cd is completely optimised for audio, it was made by the community surrounding JACK and rosegarden |

you might want to take a look at this..

I 'was' going to make a linux dist a few months ago aimed purely at musicians, but never got around to it..
wonder how popular that would be. |

hehehe, it's not necessary anymore anyway... now we have studio-to-go... Not the most performant version of linux, but unbeatable for ease of use... With a usb hard disk u can take your projects everywhere u want
nice to see that there are people interested in the open source side of music production |
