Hm, seems like almost everybody is doing the same thing like me: use the midi-keyboard to audition sounds and the knobs to change parameters.
I was asking because i've been playing guitar for about 18 years now, and i play totally different melodies on the guitar then the melodies i draw into my seqencer. I sit down with my guitar in front of my computer to find out which notes i want to play, but the durations of those notes are different from what i play when i'm jamming.
Since actually playing is much more intuitive for me i decided to look for a guitar-to-midi controller (haven't found a reasonably priced one though) and see what it can do for me.
I thought maybe some people here were keyboard players or played a different midi-controller and i was curious whether their melodies were different. |

This is why I prefer playing the keyboard many times instead of drawing the whole thing.
Of course it all depends - most lead lines are pretty naked where each note duration is short and no polyphony introduced.
After I record something using the keys with both hands for instance, the midi information is very rich - including velocity changes on each note, lotsa chords, various note durations... just hit the Q and it all seems just right.
Programming something like that with a mouse is just taking too much of a fuss. Crackling universes dive into their own neverending crackle...

Since I connected my masterkeyboard to trigger the soft-synths the quality of the music increased rapidly.
I do not record the sequences, but I check out the chords, rythms and harmonies at first, with much more intuitive feeling for the notes as being the "one-hand-mousclick-musician." Was that the question? |

Can leads be created by playing cords with an arpeggiator insert and then editing the notes in the sequencer ??? (after midi merge) |
