Hi, it's me again. Still on the search for the perfect soundcard for the Narcosia studios.

I am looking for a professional soundcard that has RCA outputs as well as the standard 1/4" outputs. The reason is because I do not yet have a mixing desk or active monitors (only passive) to plug the soundcard into so I will still be using my amplifier which has only RCA inputs.

I really would like to get something from the RME hammerfall range but I don't think they have RCA outs.

Can anyone suggest a very good soundcard that also has RCA outs?

PS I think I would like a DSP soundcard with, ideally, a break-out box, that can have guitars/microphones/etc directly plugged into it.

Thanks again for any help you can provide. I love this forum... So informative!!

Why don't you use RCA---1/4 Jack cables?
Indeed RME Hammerfall, don't have the RCA's but, when will you buy another soundcard?
Woudn't be better if, once you're spending some money now, to buy, if you can (of course), something that you realy like? From your description, I would go for RME Multiface, or better speaking, I'm gone allready 'cause I have one!

And the mics and guitars directly pluged,... I don't think so,... I've done that one time, and I couldn't even see the wave. You need some kind of pre-amplification before the sound card. Of course you can do it but... when you ear the difference... you just won't believe what you've done before!!!

Your search is over!
From what you have described you need, the Yamaha DSP Factory DS2416 with AX44 break-out box fits the bill exactly...

Its basically the O2R mixer on a card! Has RCAs, quarter inches on the break-out box that fits snuggly in a CD-drive bay, amazing sound quality, interacts with Cubase and Logic, and as it handles all the DSP, leaves your main processor with memory to spare!
I love it to bits and cant recommend it enough, especially since you dont have a mixer anyway, this does the lot. Its nice to have a 2nd monitor though to fit its mix window in. Check it!
