Im wondering if there is a specific way to make music, step by step. Basically:
1) Write the midi notes
2) Put some effect on it / EQ
3) Export every midi track to audio track.
4) Put some effect on it / EQ
5) Compress the tracks you want to
6) Mixdown some groups of audio tracks
7) Effects/compression/EQ
8) Export as a single audio track
9) Compression...(??)
Is that order OK?? Any tips to make the process easier??

yeah, make yourself decent cup of coffee while at it it helps.
by the way, the final step: Compression, should be more like Opto Compression, MultiBand Compression, plus some final EQ-ing and Level Maximization.
Oh and one more thing, me personally, i wouldn't export midi notes to audio track untill i'm sure there's nothing else left for me to improve. www.venomous2.com

NO....
dont formulize your production process like that ..ITS LIMITING
each synth part i write, i immediaterly EQ and put effects on it....., then i start on the next synth part etc....if u wait till laying down all the midi note and then only start with EQ and effects, it wont sound the way you want it to or whatever,....basically what i am saying is eq and do effects while you build the track....also dont leave it in midi for ever....use audio...it is more flexiable believe it or not, ,after bouncing it down, just mute your midi tracks..and work with the audio parts....if you need to change a sound or somthing on the part, you still have the midi track to work with etc....
also dont compress every track...i know everyone rave son about compression, but if you go ape shit on your track with a compressor and dont know what you are doing, you will more likerly fuck the thing up big time, learn what to compress and what not to....compressing is not a must!!
if it helps the way i make a track.....
1. organise a kick....either i make one or get one from my hundereds of samples...
2. next get a bass part going....with the kick over 1 bar....then i eq the bass.....i dont compress it , i also add somtihng else to the bass....hehe
then i start on some other percussive elements, write tyhe actualy bass melody etc,....build up the first 32 beats....which often arent the beginning of the song...i will often write a middle part beginning and end part over about 69 bars....then i pull them into theer proper places and fill in the pther parts etc.....a goo dway to go is play around and deveolop a sound or an idea , and then expand on it if it is worth it.....add the detials as you go....leveling etc ....
um there are lots of ways to produce, find one that you work well with and use it and develop it...basically there is no set way....just do whatever works for you....if you are stuck, use a set way then change it to your likings, nothing in music production is set in stone....its a discipline that you will excel in if you think outside the box from the beginning, .....tho alot will tend to differ.....but thats there problem
hope this helps some

Step by step ooh baby
Gonna get to you girl
Step by step ooh baby
Really want you in my world
Ok, seriously ... TRapp said it best. Take one step at a time. I start with the kick, then I add the bassline. Then I eq/compress those so that they sound good togheter then take it from there. One layer at a time ... good luck
