I'm a complete beginner and I got some music theory information about chords, notes, etc.
So my beginner question relates to samples being in the key of the track.
Do samples need to used in the key of the track? And how does one learn to detect the key one needs for the sample?
To example, I know that some people can hear someones voice and be able to determine the notes by ear. How does one learn this to be able to detect which key to use for a sample?
The same would obviously apply to remixing a song. |

load your sample into a sampler tune it until you find a setting you like it should work i guess ,i think it ll train your ears and with practice you ll get better at it, personaly i learned it with playing isntruments but it s something you never stop to improve |

Yes, the samples need to be in key.
People who have perfect pitch are normaly trained from a very early age. I think I read somewhere that if you get past a certain age you wont be able achieve perfect pitch...
Anyway, you dont need perfect pitch to be able to detect the pitch of a sample, just use these.....

perfect pitch is to hear a note and tell what note it is if i m right, you don t need perfect pitch for tuning 2 sounds or tuning a guitar ,some synth patchs are a lot more harder to tune than tuning a guitar thats why i said it something you don t stop improving with time. even if you are old i guess you can learn to get things in tune but i guess many do it instinctively it s like tuning a tr909 to get a good beat you just feel it when it s right |

What I never understand is why alot of sample libraries don't list the key... But that is another topic
Usually samplers have an option to change the pitch. If a sample sounds weird you can try to change it's pitch to get it to sound better.
Would be great if there was a little pitch detection plugin. Anyone know one except for the melodyne?
