Hello everybody,

i´m really lovin this forum, the discusses about producing are great.
That Domestic has also shared his secrets is absolutely awesome, it helped a lot.
But its always like reaching a new level, than u think "yeah great", but then by time your ears become better and better and you feel the same as the level before. My biggest issue now are these things you almost only hear on headphones. I was so happy to find a post where someone said on hps it sounds like crap, but on monitors its alright. The same here. i mean this hollowness, so ugly mids. i cant find the way to this tight sound a few certain producers have. like a stone. But before i cant stop talking i like to invite everybody to listen to my tracks and just tell me everything you hear. mainly i´d like to know what you are thinkin about kick/bass, but also anything else..
i hope we can share some knowledge

It sounds really tight to me (computer speakers). Have you ever listened to it on a good party system? Go to a party before it opens and ask if you can play your track for a minute. Make sure you have a reference track with you so you can hear the difference.           soundcloud.com/supergroover

Oh I know this too well, today I put a nearly finished mixdown on my mp3 player too check if its right there too...the days before I was confronted with a really important fact I guess, as my bass was pretty clean and tight without much rumble and mids that eat up the upper mids/highs of the pluck

the area between 150-800hz is to check for ringing frequencies, I killed all of those for this track and it works fine, never had such clean sounding bass (well before I put a multiband compressor on the 300-400hz area *rolleyes*), there still are some freqs I don't like but I guess with a treated room they can be fixed to, but u defo need to enhance your bass after eqing as it looses volume due to all the frequencies you cut out           https://soundcloud.com/noordzee-laborant

well the tracks sounds pretty good for me mix wise. sometimes a bit on the bright side maybe, but that could be soundcloud as well..

about those certain producers: try and check if they use as much elements as you do. often they are clever in using only as much stuff as needed to keep you interested. that leaves room for the sounds. clever separation between the frequency regions is also important for getting a full but not clouded sound. use a lead with lotsa mids and fx with highpass to not interfer with that. use stereoseparation for fx or leads. keep the bass centered to make room for the other stuff. maybe use mid/side eq and remove low freqs from the side part to clean up the rumble of your leads. after all it is just clever assembly with proper crafted sounds.. and remember you can only be as good as your monitoring allows you. get to know your cans/monitors with reference material of your beloved style and mix accordingly!

nice sounds, keep on grooving           http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/stereofeld-frequenzwechsel

nice stuff man, some critics

i checkled fast but on my cans it seems to me the most decent one is mind over matter in term of production, others tonal balance is a bit weird imo..don't sound natura specially low/low mids, but maybe it s just me..

my guess is that you have some little acoustic/monitoring problem but no need to be ssienctist to say that.. to tell more in details it s where it s tricky..and where a mastering engeinner could help you more .

but yeah main problem for me is that the sounds feel not natural enought. like you process/eq your sound in a way that make them loose their natural quality..problem like that can come from acoustics.. if you have some peaks, some dip.. or if you use not so great source and try to make miracle with them .. it can end in processed not natural sound too.. try to tweak the source to get them as close as possible to what you want and don't use much eq maybe.. but if you have acosutic issu even tweaking the source to be optimal can be tricky..well it sall linked...monitoring,sources sounds and processing.

what i really like is that your overall sound is kind of warm but to ear it s processed make it sound less pro ,production should sound very natural like all sound dont have been equed ect..but are like this right from the begining that one of the thing that make really high quality production

shit can t edit..but what i wanted to say , a good mastring engeinner will find you the right specific technical words to tell you what to do to make your production better, me i describe sound with feeling so not sure it s really helpfull and it s probably hard to understand what i mean..

on some of you track are a little muddy maybe boxy, not very clear high mids and top , lack definition/clarity but it s a lot about personal taste but there is some slight problem imo

Dont focus only in kick & bass...
OK all of us wants to have a great kick & bass combo (if anyone say something different probably he's lying ) but the rest elements of the track is very important also.

Try to make your sounds clean and tight in a first place and after its up to you to give your taste. no one plugin, effect can hide the bad parts of a sound if the sound isnt good from the beginning.

Btw your tracks are really good...ok some details can be fix but generall you are in good way!

so...keep it up mate!           ...into the wild....

i´m using KRK Rockit 5 Monitors with a sub, but most trax you heard were mixed without a sub.

ah and btw, the 2 trax Moon and Progedelic are mastered from a Pro.
