I find I get alot of inspiration from psychedelics or smoking marijuana...it's loads of fun to play with stuff while high or tripping but the really solid stuff that I enjoy comes later when I'm sober  and then I smoke and change it again and repeat the process like 8000 times.

I prefer to listen to music in unusual conditions of mind, not producing. (do it very rarely though, druqks are bad=)
I try to remember what I have heard and feeled, sometimes i use text file to write down some ideas and hints there.
This can be very helpful sometimes when you open your DAW next day, open this file, remember your impressions ang get inspired by them.

I heard of people doing coke a lot as well.
I could understand this, as it probably gets you very focused on what you're doing, but considering all the damage it does, I don't think I will ever try it when producing. |

I don't know, but the lives and creative processes of most people i know who are mainly into upppers like speed and coke tend to move pretty slow. They are focussed, yes, but in the case of coke it's mostly on getting a next fix. Anyhow, i know quite a few producers and musicians, but as far as i know none of them uses coke during production. |

whenever i give a break with pot i dont produce anything. in a few days i will hv to take a break of a out 2 months at least.. since i cant stay out of productions, and i also cant smoke pot in those two next months, i will then try to work under wine influence. I like alcohol but never could make a lot under the influence, for me weed is da best.
I am always stone too.. hehe

i believe it is a matter of balance and ccoperaton between your stoned self and your sober one:D
mainly because when i smoke something good ,i have amazing ideas about sounds from outerspace and ruthyms that-drive-you-high, but damn i cant concentrate and write because i am busy playing with the cutoff for about 45 minutes,while jaws have fallen on my knees

From my experience, what you think is great while in a distorted mindset, is quite often total rubbish upon sober reflection.
There are very few who break this rule, but the majority follow it to the letter, then forget, and continue the cycle. |

You must have discipline when producing stoned, even more than when you are sober i think, its very easy to fall into a loop and never get out of it ^^ but i like creating patches on LSD (on the "comming down" tho) The only problem with LSD is that the effect is very related with your state of mind and emotions and most of the time works differently on each trip.
