Hello there. I wanna now what the people do about that...
If you load a preset and then work with it, or start with a clean preset.
1 you work for example the ADRS or lfo's or oscillators....
and after work with the synth what do you do... effects like chorus phaser (why and when it uses).
and how did you now when is the time for eq..(this is the last step before compressor??!!!)
I now that question is very substrat. I'm sorry about that but i start production about 1 year and now i am in a fase that everything is questionable and everthing i now i dont realy now ;-). sorry the mess and thanks to all isratrancers |

Well it depends.
I'll often start with a clean patch if I *know* what I'm after.
But sometimes, if I'm a touch short on inspiration I'll cruise the presets until something interesting pops out, and then modify the patch from there.
Nearly every sound I have has some form of chorus on it (depending on your definition of chorus - I mean very short stereo delay efect), to thicken the sound, as well as probably quite subtle reverb and tempo delay on send channels to help it all sit in the mix.
In terms of programming the synth, firstly I work with the amp adsr, then the oscs then the filters, then the filter ADSR, but I go around and around on the synth gradually tweaking it to perfection.
Stuff like LFO and modulating parameters normally come after as a way to add interest to what is already a strong sound, unless the modulator is a neccessary part of the sound, then I would be messing with it when I'm sort out the oscs too.
With EQ, I tend to EQ, compress, and then EQ again, as Compression brings up the bass level, so this needs to be checked carefully.
BUT - every single one of these pieces of advice I will break every time I mix, so there is nothing absolute - just experience of what does and does not work - which probably isn't what you wanted to hear I'm afraid.

i like to program a line, then find a sound that fits nice, i'll tweak dat then i'll turn that part into chop pieces and move and manipulate that then i'll chop it up some more add automation and efx such as filters, i'll stretch the shit out of it and mix it up in different ways, so in other words i create something to later further process it the results are sick and there's radomness involve but all the the best pieces get glued later... this gives me nice psy lines and the likes, its not too melodic but sounds evil, which to me fits psytrance its not that cheesy european style happy happy stuff, |
