check for Irq conflict? im no techie, but maybe its worth a check, maybe its just Pci cards that has this problem? i dunno much about firewire.
also optimize your windows.
have you checked for latest drivers for the fireface?
have you set the buffersize to some extreme setting?
do you use the correct asio drivers? maybe you have more to choose frome, check them all.
about recording to wavelab, are you speaking internal or external recording?
you should have a manual to the card, and that card should have a pretty flexible mixer were you can route things. check it out and also check wavelabs preferences and find out which inputs and outputs it uses...
hope you solve it, im sure somebody here with the fireface might be able to help you..
good luck

hello montezuma,
i have a rme too so what i do to record somthg from a movie is the following:
activate inputs/outputs in the daw
go to the firewire mixer and control click the output channel (an1 and an2 in my case) their button should now turn red instead of yellow... thats for preventing feedback
then i just record this output in my daw - voila!
i hope that helped... |

hey man thanks i set up all this but i have some new problems showed up
1. Recording is goood but if i for example record from movie or a game in wave lab recording is cool but if i try to play what i recorded it says that the other device using my output chanells which in this case are dvd played/divx player or teh game. Do u know how to fix this so both can be played?
2. More important and it pissed me off really its that all my balanced input chanells runing on mono. Shouldnt all these chanells run in stereo? I connected a Stereo signal into an analog input with a stereo 6,3 mm cable..but it shows me mono signal in the mixer. Whats wrong, arent the inputs supposed to be stereo 6,3 mm inputs?
thanks in advance
take care

hi,
i'm on a mac and have no problems with using different apps at the same time...you should check audio preferences of your os i guess, cause rme ff400 is multiclient device...so..hmm check that out
for mono/stereo problem maybe go to the fireface mixer and on the top of each channel below mute/solo button there are small green faders- i put channel 7 for example full on left and channel 8 full on to the right, so maybe thats missing in your settings...
good luck |

one cable - mono
two cables - stereo
but i guess you know that already...
maybe the cable is dead? |

try using the "release asio in background" option in the asio settings. that might work.
if u dig deep enough u just might reach the sky...

balanced inputs are mono
the cable looks like a stereo one, but it's mono
this is the whole point of balanced inputs
