hello ppl!!
i have this problem that gets my nerves since yesterday.

i m tryin to record something via the microphone at the pc and it seems to have no signal.
i haVE the emu 1212 and connect the mic to the balanced trs plugs.i have recorded previously but after probably the format in the hd i did i cant anymore.
i think its some problem with the routing but i cant find it..
the funny thing is that i can hear what s been said in the mic through the speakers but there is no signal to the rec programs(wavelab).

if someone knows plz help!

thanq!

i dont work with wavelab but there should be a option to monitor the signal, find that option, casue its not default so it wont monitor your signal without you choosing it to do so.. at least thats how it works in adobe audition.... also same for cuabse, the little speaker is the monitor.

you say you connect the mic to input, its mono signal so you connect it to left input... i never worked in EMU, but im sure it has a mixer section, showing the inputs and outputs, dont you see a signal here?

make sure the input channel is centerd, left input center,

really you just have to fiddle till you get it right
good luck...

if you find the signal to be too noisy, try a simple gate on the input to get rid of the noise floor, but dont overdo it cause then you will get a choppy signal... some noise is acceptable.

tell me how you solwed it

ohh forgot to ask, is a dynamic or condenser mic? i presume its dynamic.. otherwise its not strange that you dont get a signal..

thanks new era!
its sure some routing stuff but still searchin!

the mic is condenser,i used to record stuff with it,so i think its not something with it.
also i want to rec a dj mix and same thing happens when i plug the mixer.

the mic has to inputs L and R so i guess it should be stereo.

in the s/card's mixer i see signal but not in the programs..

monitor option is switched on!

aaarghh!

aha its a stereo condenser mic, dose the card provide phantom power?

yeah most probably some routing...
maybe go to Emu site and see if they have a forum and ask there,.... or send a mail to emu...

if you keep searching you will find it hehe

Good luck m8, im just about to record some vocals, me and my mothers cousin is making a tango
haha.... we have just got the structure out, now we need vocals...

have a nice weekend!

hey diskOtek!

right click in the input channel strip to make an insert (in the emu patchmix). Choose "host asio in 1/2"... That should solve half of your problem

I don't know how to simultaneously record the signal from the other mono channel though. Please tell me if you find out how to!

diskOtek, thanks man! I was kinda close with my suggestion. I just never checked how to open up new ports inside of cubase... Basically because I have only recorded mono sources... Thanks for the collaboration
