hi, i need some help with cubase5 under win7. i am using a fujitsu lifebook n series i5 and access virus Ti as soundcard and bass synth.

when the project is on stop the VST performance Asio of cubase 5 is on something like 20% when track is playing a bit more like up to 50%. there is no general cpu load issue in play back.

but the red light of the asio meter sometimes jumps on. just for short split of a second.

now when i go to export audio and bounce a selection, the bouncing stops and cubase says: cpu overload occurred and the bouncing is interrrupted. no file bounced.

the only way i can record audio now is by creating an end-bus, directing all sounds to there and than record with the red dot. bit nasty way of working.

i hope i can tune the laptop a little bit better to avoid this problem.

i have the Ti on its usb. maybe there i have to look for a solution.

anybody has some tuning tips for win7 and cubase5 in combi with a virus ti.

help?tips is very welcomed.

Dunno if this will help you, but the Polar TI we use on the MacPro only works right on of the 7 USB ports. Have you tried all your other USB ports?

Peace.

ok, good tip. i will try other ports. i think you have to keep the usb cable of the Ti at the same usb port every time. so this would mean a new install but thats no big deal. will report here if i find something. gracias.

I didn't have to re-install anything, just switched it on and off until I found the one USB port that works well.
In my case it was the front face of the MacPro tower, second USB port from the top/underneath the power button.
Works like a dream in Logic.

Peace out.

another question, since i cannot use the export function in cubase5 i am stuck with a 24 bit final pre mix. now i would like to make an mp3 of it. is there an mp3 converter that does 24 bit to mp3? or do we have a standalone 24 to 16 bit prog outside cubase? and.. is it ok to just do the conversion in the audiopool within cubase (i think this goes without dithering plug is just plain from 24 to 16 bit).

You can use wavelab for example or similar free audio editing tools to change to 16 bit. But you could also change the change the cubase project to 16 bit right? And make a new bounce.           soundcloud.com/supergroover

switching to another usb port that made things better. now i can bounce bassline out of the ti. before not. but mix mixdown gives cpu spike still. yes was also thinking abt wavelab. i changed the now 24 to 16 bit in the audiopool but thats without dithering i think. anyhow thanks.

posted this on the access forum, maybe somebody here also knows something

hello,

i am using cubase5 32 bit on a laptop fujitsu lifebook nseries i5, 64 bit,Ti as soundcard, on usb.
when i installed the Ti, the first usb port gave problems. cpu overload, no export mixdowns completed for longer parts.
only small parts up to 16 bit i could bounce.
then i just moved the usb cable to another port and things improved 100%.
i could bounce 32 bar parts. but still not a complete mixdown.

then i moved to the 3rd usb port. and since than i have no sound anymore.
i uninstalled the audio driver (virus ti software installer 64 bit) and reinstalled it without success.

can anybody help me?

help is very apreciated

cheerz,

vipal

some more info, when i start up traktor it runs good on itself. audio in the output but no sound out of the virus also not over the headphones in the virus.
when i reinstall a driver, the computerscreen says at one point, could not reboot the device. maybe there is something wacky happening. is there a hard reboot possibility on the ti (not talking about switching on and off with transpose buttons)

had to update the Ti OS with another laptop,
somehow with the same install files as used
on the original laptop, a pop up screen appeared now about my Ti operation system being outdated, after 5 mins updating it worked again.

put it back on my original laptop and i can continue to work. but still cpu overloads at mixdown. scary saturday it was. was afraid of a hardware defect.

again shit happened. no sound. new os update via virus control says it looses connection, cannot find ti.

the trick access gives works: take off all cables. wait 30 sec. put in power while pressing arp-edit for ten seconds, then after 20 sec. plug in usb cable. maybe static electricity problem. i just hope this is not needed every hour.

I was going to suggest a hard reset as well, the TI is a little finicky about USB ports. If you can't export your mixdowns a workaround is to solo all your TI channels and bounce them separately, then do another normal export.           http://www.soundcloud.com/getafixmusic
