You want to automate which MIDI channel a MIDI mixer channel outputs to? Not possible AFAIK.           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

I think he meant automating the audio channel of the midi channel.

Just go to the edit box, and press both R & W to the left of the volume fader - now you can record and automate.

Hey!
What exactly do you want to automate?
and which version of cubase are you talking about?

in cubase sx 1 you need to press W (write) to open
the audiomation track.

press (W)rite at the audio output of your channel
in the mixer.

in cubase sx 2 you have a vst instruments track
automatically after you open vsti, you can edit there
all your plugins and stuff of the audio outputs from
the midi virtual instruments channles.
