Hi. I wonder if anyone know solution to this problem.
I am composing with Ableton Live. I am automating the cutoff of filter1 in Albino3 that I am using. Doing the automation with the envelope of a clip of course, so the values in the envelope are in percentage (0-100%). I set the filter to abt. 2000hz so that when the tune begins, the automation does a sweep from 0% (25hz) to 100% (2000hz).
Then when I close Ableton Live and open it again, the cutoff position has been reset to 25hz, 0% of 25hz is 25hz (because it is minimun value) and 100% is of course also 25hz so actually the envelope does not do the cutoff sweep unless I set it again to 2000hz.
This is very annoying problem, especially because I do a lot of work for finding the most interesting cutoff frequency and I don't remember them by heart so I have to do this again and again.
Is this a bug in Live, Albino or just a "feature". Can you recommend any good way to solve the problem..?
btw. I am using live in arrangement mode and composing with it.
Thanx in advance =)

Are you saving the patch before you close Live? |

You shouldn't have to save the patch.
Are you sure you're just not looking on that channel at a point where you have the automation set to 25Hz (like at the beginning of the filter sweep)?
Is your automation line completely gone?
I use Ableton and Albino3 all the time and have never come across this problem. http://soundcloud.com/ascensionsound

Hey, which version of Live you are using? I am almost sure that this is a bug or feature in the version I am using, version 7.1.3 (or 7.0.3). Now I understand the problem in much more detail.
I mean, the normal track envelopes work as they should, but the problem I am experiencing is with clip envelopes. It seems that clip envelopes are not absolute values of knobs like track envelopes, but relative values. So they multiply the current knob value (or current track envelope value) with a percentage amount that comes from the clip envelope. If you don't use track envelopes at all for a synth but only the clip envelope, then for some reason sometimes the "current knob value" becomes reset with a lower value.
So lets say that I first set the filter to 5000hz, then I make an envelope that does a sweep from 0% to 100% and back. The sweep starts normally from 20hz, and you see the knob rotating (when you have the track running) all the way to 5000hz and back. If I stop playback and save the track in such position where the clip envelope has dropped the frequency, to lets say 2000hz, Ableton Live saves in the file a new value for the cutoff knob of 2000hz, and when you reload the file, you see that it does the sweep from 20hz to 2000hz that you planned to be until 5000hz !!
I am not sure if this is a bug or feature. You can kind of get rid of it by setting a value in the track envelope. So then it will always work (because ableton processes the value to be multiplied differently). But the problem still remains in the form that if you save a MIDI clip, and reload it into a track in another project, the knob will most surely get minimum value, and it really disturbs creativity when using MIDI clips, that you have to reset the knobs or set all track envelopes to get the synth sound as it should.
So has this bug or feature been fixed in later versions? The same thing happens also with Predator, maybe I even withnessed it with some other synth, so I am almost positive that this is Ableton Live bug or feature.
