I cant stand cubase and apparently 7 is now much more musician friendly
i just love the interface but have never really used it for producing music.
Dont think there r 2 many ppl out using tools for psy
if there is got any comments??

I dont produce Psy much but i use Pro Tools.
Are you thinking to go with the LE version or the full TDM?

pro tools is not designed for music production; is for recording, editing and maybe some sound design, the tdm version is great but again is for recording studios.

Cubase/nuendo, logic and DP are really designed for musical purposes among others, pro tools is very user friendly but limited compared to the above mentioned regarding music production

Bad decision, unless you have loads of outboard gear.           Everyone in the world is doing something without me

PT 7 Offers 48 audio tracks, an average pro trance track takes from 60 to 80 tracks, u could say, well i keep some thing midi, PT supports only RTAS plug ins, there almost no RTAS plug ins, so.....the thing is more than clear

ProTools sucks for producing music (I work with it most days for other things). You are much better off with Cubase/Sonar/Logic/DP/etc

The reality of a music creation tool is its latency and user interface.

Pro Tools TDM really shines in this plus it has 128 tracks all synched to the sample.
Not enuff? do mix and track automation and bounce a few.

Similar may be a Creamware system, but their java based interface and crappy drivers kinda kill it.

I use ProTools with multiple Reason for loop based production. The Virus TDM synth is so good, but still u want more virus.

Did i mention automation? get automated!

What I don't have is a decent drum synth...

Anyways, low latency and fast machine - your choice of softwares as they all do the same stuff. Your workflow ie how you go about the act of creation is where its at - good hardware will make your production experience more pleasant

If you are starting and you know bugger all about music (like me) START CHEAP!!!

Develop your production technique to be able to plonk down ideas real quick. Edit and refine.

Maybe oneday i will finish a track...

^^
Yeah although i cant shell out around 9-10000$ for a tdm system,
ive been making psy for bout 5-6 years but been a major fruity head for most of that time so changing to software like cubase has been frustrating for me.
abletons got my attention and pro tools which ive been using for awhile(though not for composing) and really like.
But yeah although ive heaps of rtas plugins a majority of my favs or on vst.
Stil im going to consider it
Ive got NI komplete 3 which has Rtas compatable plugins
i can always run rewire fruity and run my vst's through there.
