wrong. less basssubs freq = less basssubs freq!
maybe cosmo can do, but in general hipassing for impact is bullshit imo. i don't listen psy on a cheap radio...

altough very little changes of the hipassing freq and slope can affect the image of bass quite drstically. i would suggest to go for the 20-40 hz range and take some time to fit with the kick.

i think it is very important to remember that all the settings of each plugin do influence each other. meaning if tweaking on synth envelope after adding distortion you probably have to adjust settings on all plugs used. that's why there's no receip.

sure u need multiband-distortion/saturation, eq, comp. sure quality of fx's (hard- or software) is important. sure a cut between 200-500hz is very adviseable. but the most impotant thing is how the bass fits with the whole track.

keep it simple (like said before), but know what you are doing. tweak very carefully and compare just subtle changes on different parameters.
root freq, envelopes (amp+filter), hipass freq, different notches, comp settings and different amount/ranges of distortion are the most important imo. very depending on all other settings and the whole fx chain. not to mention kick, but this has just been said...

even if hardware can be nice, it has nothing to do with a pro bass.

I posted this on the mother of all basslines...

That's a simple full on kick bass done with sylenth and a good kick with some atmos on top.

The bass is not even eqed although it would definetly need some, I'm just making a point here. the kick is the real reason why the bass sound like that...

i repeat:

psybass is easy

try getting that super-automated, hyper-distorted dubstep midrange wobble right.....jeezus.

and no, you don't need analog equipment, dude.

just use a sampler with a saw wave and a little saturation (TesslaSE!!!) and EQ. psy bass. done. easy.

now, making an interesting rhythm with said psybass...that seems to be almost impossible, judging by the shit i hear at parties.

Check out this Moog Minimoog Voyager rack, and tell me please guys, if it's the proper thingy to make fast tight basslines? There's too much versions of Moog Minimoog syntesizers, so i wanted to better ask someone who knows that stuff good.           Medulla Oblongata & Xibalba Festival Crew

That synth will be able to produce fantastic bass sounds, but IMO for fast + tight basslines you'd need to sample it, as the oscillators don't re-trigger with each note.           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

LOL no, not draw in new attacks for each note, that would be a sign of madness.

I meant "record a few repeats of your bassline, edit out one note at each pitch that has the attack you need, stick them in a sampler and use the samples to replay the original bassline".           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

me too but you do hear mp3. and even a funktion-one bass drives goes to 50hz

so i do say that its depends on what kind of feel do you want, we cant really hear above 20khz but we can feel it
so you can even feel the 42hz on a small stereo system but if you cut them you will hear them better
its more about psychoacoustic...
