Well for start I want to say it's been ages since I've heard such an amazing album,
it's unique and original in so many levels.
The album compound with a story (a fairy tail if you will) and each track is actually a chapter from the whole story.
It has 16 chapters and you even got the story itself written on the pamphlet inside the CD package.
Beyond the music, the story itself is written in high standards and won't shame any movie or a play (not sure if it fits the kiddies though)
It has action, drama, adventures and I even found some comedy in some parts.
Now about the music itself, you can notice right from the start that these guys have lots of musical knowledge.
They use lots of classical elements and some instruments such as piano, xylophone, clarinet, violin, drums and lots of psychedelic sounds and melodies.
The production is top notch, sound good on my stereo system and I'm sure will blast any sound system out there.
It's great for home listening (make sure you read the chapter you are listening at the moment) and of course for the dance floor, if you want to dance to something different then everything you have heard before this is the album for you.
I'm usually not listening to dark music but this style is much different from any dark music out there (so I believe).
I don’t have any favorite chapters I like them all!
So to sum up things, I highly recommend on this album/book and long live the "Gloopies"!
P.S: the one thing that is missing in my opinion is a video clip, but hey you must save something for the next album I guess
EDIT** Forgot to mention the cover and artwork, amazing!

very good music,
psychedelic trance and it's best,
lot's of influences, changing bassline from psy bass line to more morning minded,
tells a story,
perfect for homelistening,
remdinds me of infected mushroom sometimes...
good work

First of all, I don"t write reviews very often , so please excuse me
After a few releases on V/A, the fuss about "P.O.F" started more than a year ago when they first announced their album. But problems with labels forced them to delay the release. Fortunatelly, POF used all this time to redesign and remix completely their album... Night Time Lullabies is like an old cognac, it slowly maturated for almost two years, and the result is an amazing production!!
If you are looking for something "classic", something you've already heard hundreds of times, if your ears are allergic to originality, please forget it! Night Time lullabies is a concept album based on a children's fairytale (a story which you may read in the insibe booklet while enjoying every second of the music!), and it is a brillant success, each track perfectly fits with the story, each sound builds up in a global atmosphere...miam, miam!! In a story, there is always a continuity between chapters, it is the same here with the album. Transitions between psytrance tracks are fullfiled by beatiful classical interludes. It is best to give the album a continuous listening, without any interruption... a real journey into Gloopy land!! (gloopy is the monster on the cover, one of the main characters of the tale)
Enough with the concept, let's get back to the basics: the music itself. Take a little Infected Mushroom (classical mushroom style), add a pinch of Shpongle... cover with Danny Elfman sauce (danny elfman is the composer of most of Tim Burton's movies music) and "flamber" the whole by chief Remy and Pierre (the two guys behing the project)... and there! you'll get some beautifull and mysterious atmospheres, a pulsing, powerful and very danceable sound! An album ready to shake the dancefloors and a homelistening delight at the same time!! A total succes in my opinion!
You like Elfman's scores, you like psytrance, you CANNOT miss this album... if you have the "classical mushroom" nostalgia, you HAVE to check it out!!
In my opinion, Night time lullabies is THE best psytrance album since IM's "Classical Mushroom" To finish with, if you are a real melody amateur, i'm talking about real melodies, like classical music or film score, then this album is a must-have. It is relatively rare theese days : P.O.F are real musicians, and the difference can easily be heard! |
