After a few people strongly suggested to give it a go I did......so firstly it was really inspiring to get started and easy to get captivated with the easy and quick way of putting things together........but then the first thing I missed was the quadrafuzz from Cubase that won't open in Studio One.Then the next thing I missed was the offline processing you can do by just right clicking in Cubase. @Colin and @Orange mentioned that you can use a different but similar quadrufuzz but it's not the same as the Cubase one.Any suggestions about the offline processing in Studio One or any other pros and cons you have come across with Studio One????? |

I find the resource usage to be very very light, I also find it incredibly quick workflow wise.
Offline processing would be nice, but if that is a deal breaker for you, then you only have Cubase as your sequencer of choice AFAIK.
RE quadrafuzz, it really isn't the be all and end all of multi band distortion to my mind - I far, far rate trash or gr4 over it - but, again if you cannot live without the Cubase quadrafuzz, then you have no choice but to use Cubase.
I'm comfortable in many different sequencers, Studio one is where I spend the most time at the moment. That doesn't mean it is the right sequencer for you - only you can decide the right sequencer for you.

@Speakafreaka....Thanks for the input...wont have too many sleepless nights over quadrafuzz and cheers for the other suggestions......but yes offline processing would be sweet.
Sure choosing a DAW is like choosing a partner or football team,,,,,very personal....hehehe......was just interested in other people's experience so far with Studio one and any pros and cons anybody has encountered in comparison to any other DAW used in the past. |

as said allready if you want quadrafuzz and offline processing than cubase is the way to go.
studio one offers a very easy and straightforward interface and a super fast browser.
since i moved from flstudio the only thing i missed was the step sequencer and the automation editing (spline) but nothing i cant live with.
the app is fast to quickly lay out ideas and doesnt spoil your creativity and this is what counts most.
you should demo it.. presonus is giving a 1 month fully functional demo.
ps.
there are other multiband distortion plugins out there that are alot better than qfuzz.

Yes,I'm testing the Studio One Demo now.
@Orange......I remember you mentioned that you still do the drums in FL cuz it's much faster.Do you rewire it to Studio One or just do it independently? When I open the two projects(Studio One/FL) and rewire them the first time they work 100% without any issues....but after saving and re-opening the projects and playing them in rewire mode the FL misses some beats .The same happened when I was rewiring it to Cubase but then I found that I had to re-activate the Rewire in the Cubase devices for it to run smoothly.I've tried doing the same with Studio One but it doesnt seem to help,FL still misses iregular beats.Any suggestions?? |

use it as a vsti plugin and not rewire.
it works better in studio one/cubase but you are limited to one midi channel.
it doesnt do a difference to me cos when im done with the drums i export each part and work it as audio in studio one.
if presonus dudes make a sample based step sequencer plugin for studio one.. it will make flstudio obsolete for me. http://www.landmark-recordings.com/

If i didn't have ableton live, Studio One would be the way to go for me. Studio One is ALOT more stable then most DAW apps i have worked on.
work flow is insanely quick!
The only reason I am still working on ableton live is because i know it very well, the racks are awesome, pattern view for ideas and live sets, easy quanitization, and easily being able to collab with others.
Personally its a matter of taste, i like both of these softwares.... im still getting more used to S1 but i am comfortable with it. and i think that's a important feat to have when testing new software

hey guys
there is an offline processing in studio one.
In version 2 all audio events have their event part in the left side just click on it and you will see the details on the left side
you can apply fx on a single event, bounce it and if you are not happy you can restore it.
very simple
there is now a quantize function wich works great not to mention the groove function
the broswer is fantastic
the mastering project page is wonderful, you can change the mixdown of your track in song page and the file in the mastering page will be update it...WOW
I'll never go back
but yes give it a try there is a good probability that you will like it a lot
cheers

@Nabla jpr....wow offline processing....will definitely check it out a.s.a.p.......thanks a lot!!!
@ansolas.....so how did you unlock qf and which version are you talking about, the exact one from Steinberg?
@Kolishin Methud,,,,Ableton is still the only software I haven't spent too much time with but have heard mostly only good things about it.A good friend of mine also started using it and said he hasnt missed Cubase yet.
But yes I quickly got hooked on Studio One....its hard not to especially with the speed of workflow and the logical approach, had a few issues/obstacles but they seem to be a thing of the past now. |
