Looks very sleek ...

And seems like they are almost up-to speed with Cubase in terms of new features (like the Automation warping) ....

No way I am changin DAW mid-work ... but it seemd like a very elegant option and given the forces behind it ... it might even pass the Steini DAWs ....

ability to use both 64 and 32 bit simultaneously in the same project.

no J Bridge = better than Cubase in this respect, which is actually a very big deal.

ability to add ISRC codes and CD text - this is just something simple that Steinberg wants you to buy Wavelab for. I've had older versions of Wavelab, and I really don't even get the point anymore.

Obviously you can add ISRCs with free products as well, but there's no reason to not include it in a professional music software.

haha I won't try this yet or switch, because I'm too good at Cubase to switch now, but it does look good.           www.musicproductionnatural.com || www.facebook.com/djamoeba | facebook page

I'm a long time Cubase user and got the S1 demo version this morning and I've been playing around with it today.

I must confess I am blown away. Not that it offers anything new really, its just setup in a way that really appeals to me.

It looks like Logic (very slick, easy on the eyes), its almost as intuitive as Live (massive workflow improvements compared to Nuendo/Cubase)..just lots of little details where my reaction was "Yes, finally!!"

Its superfast, really feels like fresh, optimized code and the program isn't bloated by tons of plugins and instruments that never gets used in my case, just the necessary basics. Overall it sounds great and the native Pro EQ really surprised me at how nice it sounds when doing some shaping.

NOT paid for writing this just been years since anything was that satisfying out-of-the-box so I'm considering an immediate switch!

Oh, and it comes with an integrated, simple, no-fuss Sampler! How about that Steinberg????

IMHO ...

Cubase's sequencer and piano roll with Logic's mixer ... with the emphasis **purely** on writing music.

There are things I'd like to see.

Midi plugins. Peak monitoring on the channel instead of via a plugin ... BUT ... basically it kicks arse.

It is also, without a shadow of doubt the most stable, and responsive sequencer I have used in recent times. This is (again, IMHO) massively important, and Kudos to pre-sonus for this.

Love it. It's like the Cubase I wish there had always been.

One or two (very) minor improvements, and its perfect.

It also (thank fuck) comes with useful, simple, samplers out of the box. This is a deal breaker for me, and is what has kept me with Live despite its failing stability for so long. No more!

Someone needs to look at effects/instrument/drum racks in ableton, stick em in studio one, and I'm not, repeat not going back. As for Cubase, I grew up on it electronic music wise, it is where I became 'good', but it has always been instable. I ditched it at version 3, and I've seen nothing in any subsequent version (I've looked hard) to make me go back. Studio one ... refuses to crash! Come to papa, baby!          .

Not sure if it has a different meaning in Live but S1 does support effect racks.

Speadafreaka, would you recommend this sequencer for live acts? Nice to see you are still around from time to time btw.

Got any new plugs for us?

Still very happy with your kick vst.

Cheers and Kudos.

I felt the same way to S1 when first found it. It is really a jewel and is going to get even better.

Somehow I'm pretty used to cubase and now learning logic... but S1 is always on my mind... very friendly, intuitive and as it has been said, stable also it looks very nice.

Upavas,

In terms of stability for live useage, yes it would be great, but in other ways ... I feel Ableton has the edge (substantially) for live work.

Workflow is very similar to Cubase in Studio 1, and I don't feel it is that well suited to live performance.

There are things I would miss in Ableton that really can help in the live environment, such as using audio clips to flip between effect chains. Clip view is a killer for live situations.

On the other hand, I find studio 1 as a writing environment to be very, very streamlined indeed - that is where I think its strengths lie.

Looks like a stem bouncing job for me going to a live set.

Inner Demon, unless I'm missing something about Studio 1 (which is very possible) effects racks in Ableton are considerably more capable.

hey guys,
I've been using Studio1 for a year now, I made the swicth from cubase and it took me 2 hour to decide to switch...I mean in 2 hours I was able to use my midi controller, map and write automation..I was able move things around, instrument, effetc, wav, rex from anywhere to anywhere with just drag and drop..just single window enviroment not like cubase with floating windows
Yuo make a song in the song page, one click you import it in the project where you will master it. After it, with one click you can burn or upload to soundcloud...many small things that helped me to slim my workflow
In one year it crashed maybe twice always because of some strange vst behaviuor

of course it's still version 1.6 so you will miss some feutures from the big ones but trust me guys I realized that I didn't need anything else

this is the best choice I made in years

and stay tuned the version 2 is coming late this year, big improvement are announced and I do believe that it will kick ass
The presonus forum is fantastic, the guys from the team are always ready to answer and help

long life to S1

cheers

I love how it handles Multi-outputs of VSTi's.
The controller mapping is so great as well, it's working better with my ancient UC-16 than PF9 did with a Command|8 for me!

If I started producing a year later, I probably would've started and suck with Ableton when it started getting really popular. I find Cubase to be the old ball and chain, you really love her and you'll never leave her, but sometimes she just pisses you off.

Ableton is like the nubile 19 year old that just wants to party and have fun fun fun!           www.facebook.com/chemogen

wow. tried the demo with the virus ti and ROCK solid.( 32 and 64 bit)AT LAST

this things got a great engine with some proper fucking headroom (using 64bit and K 14 metering)and the workflow (once you unlearn your previous DAW shortcuts or write your own) is super fast
just like having explorer inside your DAW
No sub menus or FAFFing about to get stuff done , most of the features are very quickly accessed audio

VERY impresive sounding effects and are completely usable unlike other DAW with reams of PISH built in plugs that will never get used.
Impact is pretty slick as well with a no fuss aproach and great filters

Also the PRO EQ has a very musical sound to it and would sell just on its own
IMHO. built for FULL ON, Dubstep and any other shit that requires Rock Solid timing

id give it a good 8.5 outa 10
down to the fact that the audio editing and manipulation is a bit behind where it should
but everything else is SHIT HOT

(and slightly cubasey)
Please send me my free copy of Studio 1 too............          Â°Â°Â°ACTS 4:12°°°°
