Yeah, checked it out.
Nice synth with nice options and stuff.
Probably just all you need to make Psytrance, but it's not sounding better than other synths out there.
It does have some very cool things like, 16 X oversampling (supposed to be real good, although I still don't understand what it is exactly), preset morphing and lots of FX. |

you need to try it again and tweak some psy sounds on it, the sound quality of this utterly destroys any other softsynth.
i have been messing with all night.
pros:
-utterly amazing sound quality, first time i have heard a softsynth with the exact sound quality of a hardware synth.
-really fast envelopes, can get alot fast envelope analog filter type sounds that arent possible on most softsynths.
-great thick basses because of the quality of the oscilators and the fast filter env.
-same big set of waveforms as blue
cons:
-really only one filter, the second filter is useless.
-FM is rather weird on it. the semi tone module doesnt quite tweak things as expected for doing different pitched mod/carriers. you can get the standard psy fm/gurgly leads but you have to do it more with different waveforms than through tweaking the parameters.
-i really dont know what the point of having this, blue and albino is, half the parts seem recycled between synths. if they could combine the sound quality of this into blue or albino we would have the ultimate psy soft synth.

Yeah, it is funny, it basically sounded like they lifted the EXACT top 10 presets & arp/sequence patterns from Vanguard, Albino and the Korg Legacy and put them in one new synth.
But yeah the sound quality is like playing those old presets with compression and and top notch 3rd party insert effects already on them. Sounds really good.
I look forward to the release of this synth, but... it is not going to help the "all new trance sounds the same" problem... at all. In fact it will make it much worse.

Nice synth. Easy to understand, great sound but I'm @ Massive at the moment.
btw. I don't think that it'll make upcoming trance worse, what else should the presets sound like,Meta? |

So, I've been playing with this thing today myself, and it does have some really nice sounds... I dunno about the second filter being useless though, I used to do similar things using albino where I'd chain the filters, so it depends on you... Yeah the presets do sound the same, but for me it's a bit easier than Blue, and it has a bit of a richer sound than the Albino at times.
The one thing that is bugging the crap out of me is the arpeggiator.... no way to tweak it... or at least not from what I can see... as for the preset thing... Lots of synths have similar sounding presets, and the only reason why we have many homogenous sounds are because people aren't investing any time into really learning a synth and how to design their own sounds.
Many times people just load up on every vst they can find and don't bother really learning how to use them. I'd rather see someone use only 2 synths but use them well, than someone using 30 vsts and only using the presets...

oh i dont mean having a second filter is useless, i just mean i dont get why they made one really cool multimode filter and then this one little filter with little options.
i didnt even notice that about the arp, it doesnt look like there is anyway to edit it.
this whole synth kind of has the feel that pappen is trying not to compete with himself as far blue/albino. hopefully they at least put these filters into blue/albino.

U can edit the arp. Therefore press on 'Arp' below the pitch bend options.
It is a nice synth and easy to edit with high quality, and it doesn't eat to much cpu.

Rather use 2 synths instead of 30, but then you have to choose the 2 most versatile of your taste what is good for you.
And how do you do that?
Simple, especcially in the beginning you must try a lot of demoos and you come to the conclusion you can not really decide which one suite best for you, this synth is better for this, and that for that etc.
So at the end you are messed up with a lot of synths, that's how it works |
