hi friends,

i am a little bit more into powercore because of more availabilty of plugins especially from sony oxford.

on the other site i dont want to use virtual instruments on DSP (or better thats not my main-idea) , i need it just for mixing applications like: high end compressing, equing, limiting, reverb.

any experiences with the systems?

cheers..

if it is only for mixing applications i would drop the virtual instruments and go for the powercore... Very good quality processing tools (u already mentioned the sony oxford series...). If yu want it as a more creative tool go for the UAD...

IMO get both ... I did

The new Multiband-limiter from UAD kicks ass, also some new Neve EQ is getting out in 1st of June !!

Cambridge is a gr8 optional EQ for a low price....

Oxford Bundle is fantastic man but 1300€ for all of those goodies doesnt fit everybody´s pockets...

Also Dyn EQ,Flitroid;Assimilator;S6000 plugs

If i could only get one now, i would go for the UAD-1 with some optional plugs Precision Multiband-Plate-Precision Limiter-Neve Eq(?) i must test it though-Fairchild Comp as a cherry on top !!!

yeah, but uad has no transient designer like the oxford transmod right? this is not very good for technomusic production.

or is there something like that on uad ?

AFAIK, the UAD-1 doesn't have a transient designer, but i do think the UAD-1 is a better deal, especially since the plugins are realistically priced. The powercore reverbs are really good, and that's what i use the powercore for, but for general mixing i prefer the eq's and compressors that come with the UAD. If you have suitcases of money, then the powercore may be a better choice.

ok, just ordered the powecore mk II . i hope it was the right decision...

thank you all for your opinion.

by the way i also think the uad has better compression tools, but the sony oxford eq and transmod was a must for me. i hope that the available compressors for powercore will do the job i want from them.

i must admit i used my Uad studio pack more than my poco fiwi, unbelievable compressors , and yes prices more to afford , i.e the flexi pack lets u design ur own package of plugs . Here in Denmark some of the plugs for Poco are just as expensive as the dsp card itself . In a short way . Uad feels more of a fun ,easy( still serious ) package , where the Poco looks boring but also has the quality to back it up .            3ó BooOoM ShanKaRA 3ó

oh man, realy hard decision

on one site the best EQ ever (sony) with inflator and a transient designer (i love transient editing)
on the other site you have that valve-like killer top-compression, which is very important for my sound, too.

my decision for poco was about the perfomance, the perfomance of UAD is known to be not very good! i can run much more plugins, which will be important because i want to use a lot of NY-technics using many many tracks.

i think sooner or later i realy need both.

thank you very much!

by the way: the best compressors i own till now are kjaerhus COM and the waves c4 (even in singlemode) what do you think about the poco compression compared to that ones?

Anyone got some impressions on the Focusrite Liquidmix DSP thing?

It is a dsp processor for eqs and comps, u can use 32 eqs/comps with several modes of reconstructed (i thing ir tech) hardware eqs/comps.

I thing it could be a nice and useful tool for production, but u 'only' get eqs/comps, no reverb e.g. like with uad/poco.            Signature

Hi Kitman,

I have been using a powercore for two years or so. The compression IMO isnt that great. It has one standard Compressor limiter, but I dont like the interface and personally dont get very good results with it.There is a good limiting amplifier plugin, the 247c. I mainly use poco for reverbs, virus, and the 247c, but there are loads of cool plugins you can buy for it as you've noticed...

thanx cytopia,

yep, the 247 is in my bundle. i think i will use it very often. the virus i have allready in hardware, do you have experiences with the DSound VL2? seems to be pretty interesting for virtual analog feeling.

Is the VL2 that simple compressor plugin? If it is then i tried the demo, and it sounded OK, not good enough for me to buy tho. Try the demos of the plugs, then you will know more than my words here can tell you.

I may buy the UAD-FLEXI and get the fairchild and the multiband compressor with it, will cost about 600 EUR, but may be great compliment to Poco.

I need a real job first though           Cytopia.org

I never listened to liquid channel in action, but from the specs and the price tag it seems like a gr8 addiction to a studio !!

The price is way out of my league though !!

The Poco 24-7-c compressor does the job, but doesn't add any colour or character. The Master X3 on the other hand, is a really useful addition and is more transparent then the C4 as far as i can hear. You won't be disappointed
