Thinking on this fundamental part and am bit curious.
(My old standard technics amp is dead.)
Is there anything one should have in mind when looking for an amp?
What are you using? And what you would recommend ?
Please don't recommend expensive parts with golden cabels or sth like that.
It should just work - fine.

hehe im looking for a amp aswell...
i like the old ones..
Look for NAD, Yamaha, Technics...
Of course amps will always color the sound in its own way, i think its okej, as long as you have something to compare against so its not too much color, and even if it is too much color and you like it you can always record through the amp for some of that nice color..
Great for mastering, crank up the treble and bass and record as hot as possible

good luck finding one... or two.. hehe
