yveusss,
the diffusers were designed for my room specifically and made by a carpenter. I can't achieve a furniture-like quality like a good carpenter can. I should've added that they are filled with high density fiberglass.
But of course you can go DIY,

vegetal,
I don't understand what you mean by 'the form is too regular' and 'optimum diffusion'. A poly diffuser is probably one of the best diffusers that can both diffuse a wide range of frequencies and yet be DIY/inexpensive.

Those look really good mr Trip. How do they perform in your room ? Do they give the impression thay your walls disappear, sound-wise ? |

They look definitely very very beautiful and well made.
But as far as i know these are deflectors and not diffusors.

I wish walls would dissappear
Basicly, everyone can have a different target for their diffusers. Mine was to create an acoustical recording area, disabling horrible flutter (bathroomy) in that specific area while not over-damping the whole room with too much absorbtion.
To answer the first q, they achieve what I've planned them to achieve, though I'm not recording anything yet.
@alex,
I'm not familiar with that term (deflector), and would rather keep calling this a diffuser, since that what it does to a set of frequencies hitting it. You can read some valuable information only at your will of course http://forum.studiotips.com/viewtopic.php?t=3192&start=20 Crackling universes dive into their own neverending crackle...

It's true what you say. They are they simplest diffusers that can be made. They are known as polycylindrical diffusers. I prefer the term "deflector", as a true 1D or 2D diffuser works differently and is rather complicated to built.
Here's a part of an article from Ethan Winer, regarding this issue :
"The simplest type of diffusor is one or more sheets of plywood attached to a wall at a slight angle, to prevent sound from bouncing repeatedly between the same two walls. Alternatively, the plywood can be bent into a curved shape, though that is more difficult to install. In truth, this is really a deflector, not a diffuser, as described in more detail below. However, a deflector is sufficient to avoid flutter echoes between parallel surfaces."

Alex mate,
I wouldn't argue with Winer's approach, but as I can see on the internet, he is the only one who uses this term, and those who read that follow using the term. I'm just glad we have a variety of acousticians to consolidate with - each to his approach...
This though is not one huge poly, but a series of polys rotated each. I would dig a bit to get the terms straight
