It’s funny how many people don’t make this distinction...
I know pop culture is not your thing , but have you ever read Roger Ebert’s movie reviews? Go through his top recommendations. A pattern becomes somewhat clear already at that stage. And you lose any doubt, once you look specifically at his reviews of documentaries: you’ll see that Ebert is not exactly an impartial judge of cinematic art. All his top picks for documentaries are pieces of “progressive” propaganda, and he does not shy away from chiming in and telling you right in a review how much he agrees with authors’ views. Yeah, I know, it’s propaganda if it’s from the right – it’s an enlightened opinion if it’s from the left. They can both kiss my ass. Especially those “impartial experts” that use their position as a political podium.
Anyway, maybe I didn’t read it right, but I was under an impression that Paradigm actually separated those two things: he did not like that music as a consumer and he was concerned when he saw a deserted floor as an organizer. First is a personal bias. Second is a professional critique. The fact that both were directed at the same person is irrelevant.
Don’t know why every thread has to come to the same point: “what is dark and how dark should it be to not spook all the cheese lovers who may be in the dark”. Who cares! Write your own music in whatever style you want and let people decide. Why does it have to become a shouting match with finger pointing and name calling? Sometimes I feel like I am reading a novel about the French Revolution here. Heroic struggle on the barricades for the freedom of tzwick-tzwack-peow-tung against the oppression of boom-tzack-boom-tzack bullies. Get real! 99.9% of Earth’s population don’t even know what you are arguing about. They have more important things to attend to than a stomp vs. wobble debate.

lol @ Brainlizzard
"THEY are always thinking in 'us and them' terms, unlike US"
Also "the new sound of darkness"... dark trance is how old now? IMO most of the good stuff came out in 2007 and it's now 2010. Time for a new style to come out.
Honestly I hear (in person, not on forums) people who like fullpower/dark trance rag on melodic trance, and people who like melodic trance rag on fullpower/dark trance all the time.
The difference I've noticed is in how they rag on it. Usually when I hear people rag on dark trance it sounds like "I just don't like it" "I can't dance to it" "It's too abstract" "It's too fast.
When I hear darktrancers rag on fullon or prog they're usually saying things like "It's music for stupid people/etards" "It brings the wrong element to parties" "It's not psychedelic" "It's too naive" blah blah blah
I think it's much more honest to just say you don't like something rather than to try and say that it's objectively bad or that if you like it, you're somehow less of a person for doing so.

Well said.
Enough with the whole Les Miserables drama. "Opression". "Machine". "Status quo". All this selfless struggle for the future of Mankind. It's a bunch of personal preferences, that's all - no need to make more out of it than it is.

Much obliged. Would have been sweet to have the Goaconstrictor out there also.
The vid Dragon posted was from the second of two sets (Sat nite 8-9)... Hopefully someone can post a bit of the Sat morning 5am set to fill in the gaps. Was playing alot quicker and crazier that time.
Everyone go to Psymply Psychedelic BTW.(/plug)

I was there, my crew was the one camped out directly in front of the stage right by the creek. We all had the time of our lives. Thank You everyone for making this gathering possible. You all helped bring my family that was there closer and it was an honor to meet everybody. As for the DarkPsy... Bring it on!!! friday night for me was the dopest, alien contact, subconcious mind machine scanning, ultimate experience I could ask for. So again I sincerely and greatly thank everyone involved.

That is the best review of a party I've heard in a long time.
SineFreq that is very cool of you to share that.
I also want to say that Paradigm's review was perfectly fine, and cinderVomit's response even finer. Totally Peaceful, as far as I'm concerned. So what the hell all you others start yappin about. So loud and stupid and revealing of your own issues.

I also want to say I'm bummed to have missed Deep-Fryer. I love your sets homie. And yes Meta, Goa Constrictor should have been there and a lot of other places. I don't know his time constraints, but organizers need to check him out to DJ your next festival or party (please). He can work magic with tunes.

I wonder what Dick Hardman would say about all this...
