@Boomslang... I'm curious.. does your name pertain to the species of snake? or is there another origin?

Tizzy......
Ah yes, that is the question isnt it. With all the space animal refrences I felt somethin different was needed. Galactic platapus seemed passe.

i heard you play broken toy's "low down and dirty" as part of a sunday morning trancefloor at Interfuse 2008..may not have been you but someone did and they deserve to be hung for it

What's wrong with that track? Sounds not that much cheesier than what I hear on sunday mornings from many different people...

I happen to think broken toy is pretty brilliant. if he released more material I'd be checking it out. Its not in my rotation anymore but I'm not going to hang anyone for playing it. I'm trying to remember that particular track..

anyway, its hard to call out Lawrence, one because his mixes are usually spot on and two because he openly admits to being a lover of cheese (as am I, takes one to know one I suppose)

so really, while I can see why 170 bmp "white noise clustaneurofuck gil style cage rattling let it go or I will drive you mad" tunes grate at him.

I'm not the biggest fan of the dark and nasty, but you know, as soon as I write it off, I find something that makes me go, oh shit, now THAT is cool. so really, fuck genres, I'm sick of this shit.

bassnectar said one thing right, his music is omnitempo maximalism, meaning I dont care what tempo it is, if its dope and it fits, I'm dropping it, to the full effect, and if you dont like it, well then why are you here?

I cant say I eat the dark for breakfast but I'm sick of the segregated ass shit on here. keep it at night, and no complaints for me, as long as the morning can be melodic and epic and beautiful, let the night take me to hell and back, its part of the trip. without contrast you truly appreciate neither.

It sounds to me like david got excited and decided to take it to the next level at gemini, I dont see why not, its logical when you are given at set at a great event to try to blow everyone away, and when your already at an accellerated pace like that, sometimes it makes the floor drop off like flies if they cant sync with it, I wasnt there, I didnt hear it, I dont think I've had the pleasure of hearing him play, so my perspective isnt really an issue there, but rich booked him, and obviously there was a reason, maybe rich wants to allow people to be knocked out of the comfort zone and hit the bleeding edge of insanity for a bit to really get a taste of what kind of diversity is out there. I personally think thats cool. this scene is supposed to be about tolerance and acceptance, were all nutters here, this isnt a club in ibiza, there arent standards, standards are what sucks.

I dont care what you play, if its cleanly produced and creative I'll probably dig it, my main complaint with some of the faster dark that I hear is that the 2ks are lighting me up like a christmas tree, If I put the plugs in or pull the nasty frequencies, the music sounds better and I'm not complaining anymore. were all geeks here, dont just shoot someone to shit on generalities. explain what you didnt like. I guess. I just think its funny, alot of other EDM scenes complain about the elitist psy trancers, and then even within our genre its like a never ending battle between sub genres, the encyclopedia dramatica post is starting to sound less farcical every day.

you know for the amount of psychedelics this crowd ingests theres still an awful lot of egos. jesus dude, do any of you sell out arenas? do you play syndicated radio shows to millions of people? if the answer is no, and no, then lighten up and can we go back to partying here? christ. I have enough drama in my mundane life, I'm about ready to start partying only in countries where I dont understand the language so I dont have to know the scene politics anymore. haha.

whos with me?

(oh and I'm sorry I missed it, I've heard fantastic things every year and I really want to make it next year if its going down, keep it goan, its one of the great american trance festivals and all this drama on here just makes me think it must have been another epic year! haha. sorry to chime in on this thread, can we go back to actual reviews now? with the exception of nate I think everyone else wants to hear what they missed.)          .:.vaxination.:.

^ nope, you are right paradigm, you have no ego, do you? the only thing i can say is ...

you are a douchebag

there i said it...

i got to around page 8 or 9 of this sad review thread, where one of its main organizers (the douchebag i was talking about earlier) hijacked it and turned into YET ANOTHER douche fest hole bag nut numbing weep-a-thon. did i see a picture of you in a wife beater?

if you wish to read those same 8 or 9 pages again, you will find that cinder threw not one bit of mud at you, in fact, his responses were overly polite and kept trying to veer back to talking of the event, that you threw. and whether you think you are just being TRUTH all the time, maybe you should realize that YOUR TRUTH is mostly just whack, and that there are 6,000,000 different truths out there

it sounds like this party was really off the hook and i am really sad that my heart is beating like this when i should really just be reading about peoples experiences.

if this was the last gemini, thats too bad, it sounds like a lot of people have enjoyed this event for a long time, i wish i could have come and seen what it was all about.

moderate this if you choose jeto, your side here is pretty obvious. and btw, yelling is appropriate when the person is YELLING!!!

paradigm, not that you need my advice, you seem to have things pretty figured out, but maybe when you throw a party, this is a good time to try to keep positive and say good things. and remember, if you douche too often, you lose a lot of important bacteria and stuff that keep you healthy.

i won't be talking on this thread anymore and i won't be arguing with paradigm, unless you wanna talk to me in person. i don't really care to know you either way.

vax i wish you couldve read the pm i sent lawrence ((alas i dont even think he got it)) ,;, basically said everything you just did..except the part about broken toy being 'brilliant' .good yes..but brilliant?? listen to "low down and dirty" and try saying that with a straightface

--the perpetuation of division within the north american tribe over silly subgenre nonsense is well..without sense..
its people filling in archetypes without paying attention to their own metaprogramming..((ie this sound makes me feel this way..i dont associate with that speed..i go like this..other way is bad..jesus good/\devil bad)) [its all just perceptions]
mubali said it best, great parties have something for everyone..

TO all the people who are responding who did not attend Gemini this year.

Shut it...

If you didn't go to Gemini why the hell are you posting in this thread? This is a post Gemini thread to review the event whether good or bad. If you didn't go you should keep your mouth shut and voice your opinions on events and things that you were actually apart of and attended!!
I don't go on threads and post shit on parties I never attended. That's just stupid and it would appear to me that everyone who is posting is just bored and looking to pick fights. I'm not going to name any names but to all the people posting who didn't attend PLEASE stop posting already....

Ah no one has ever claimed Broken Toy is the best psytrance anyways. There's a few good tracks they have done here and there...

Sunday Mornings esoteric? lol I don't get that           www.horizonscolorado.com

wasnt sure which post to take serious, the one where you asked me to not say anything or the one where you asked me a question i mean get it together if you want people to conform to some rules here..

posted on the thread because last year;s Gemini was a mindblowing experience for me, curious to hear how this years went..added to the discussion because..well, its a hilarious read, and i find it very interesting when people lose control of their perceptions and their ego lashes out..always curious to find out 'why' [[so bored yes, picking a fight no, pushing some buttons perhaps]]

on a weird sidenote brought up by, well i wont mention names , sunday morning, imho, isnt the best time for "low down and dirty, all the dirty things you do"
i feel, again apparently needing to stress this is an opinion and should in no way affect your reality tunnel although im flattered that youve given me that much power over your biochemical processes, that the bt track in question does not memetically fit into what i ((and who the hell do i think i am anyway)) would consider a proper sunday morningtrance dj set, as far the meta aspects are concerned..i find these gatherings to, at heart, be more than just a 'party' ..i wont waste anymore space on this thread so pm me for further chitchatery on the subject, the ontological aspects of stompdance cultures is kinda my thing..

also, the douche inside me cant help but point out that 8 minutes prior to asking about my thoughts on sunday morning you scolded people for not staying on topic

BACK TO REVIEWS!!!!! (Ya right....)
As i wasn't their on friday night I cannot comment or speculate on the tunes.
I will say....... Gemini for dark music seemed to get crazier every year and it sounds like this one was the most crazy of all (at least on friday). Its understandable to push it even further and i respect that. I heard some of saturday nights stuff and it was clean, awesome darkness.

My fav set was Aerosis' day time goa magic. Beautifully produced, slower goa sound and dancy as FUCK. A majorly welcomed addition to my daytime sound requirements
Bird of prey was the best and most enjoyable dubstep sound ive ever heard. Nicest locals ive ever had the pleasure of partying with. I would visit that spot again just for that reason.

I will admit i would have liked a hiking trail. My only complaint. Dear god, i hope thaaaats ok to say.

no offense girl. but dont tell us what to do.

I have two reasons for saying this.

A. even I have been in this scene longer than you, so you commanding anyone not to speak their mind is not only disrespectful, but pretty damn arrogant.

and

B. this a forum, people post on forums, last I checked, you werent a moderator, so I think you need to chill.

now I see why you said that, its become a paradigm bash-a-thon. I personally like lawrence and I have nothing against you man and nothing against you liz. I do think you kind of opened this can of worms, but I think it should be closed and done already. I get it were all bored.. if there isnt a good movie quality thread we go nuts.

In my defense, I used to be into broken toy, dont know what hes been up to lately, i've been distracted by australia. anyway. peace guys, this will be my last post in this thread, I'm sure the party was fine, throw it next year, include all genres, sooner or later we are all going to have to learn to coexist and grow or we are going to thump it into non existence.

thank you magellan for a REVIEW. woot! keep them coming!           .:.vaxination.:.

Hey Liz, in real life, people in a group have the right to respond to something said by someone within that group, whether person (A) or (B) likes what the other had to say or not, and the same is true for forums.

We put up a slideshow of pictures from last weekend. What a great time! Always a good time! Thanks for everything Rich and those involved in the operation and all the DJ's (from Hard to Prog to Dubstep, Pystep, Chill, Dark, Full On, whatever!) and of course US, the party-goers. I felt nothing but good vibes!
Enjoy.
