As someone who likes to be open to all kinds of music, I quite enjoyed Friday night... I heard some complaining, but all minds are not created equal.. you know. It doesn't matter if people were dancing or not, many more were being programmed...The job is to go deep and you may not always like what you see, the trick is to understand and love that which makes you uncomfortable. I got the feeling (throughout the whole weekend) that the people who needed to be there... were there. Thanks and Hugs! Keep it positive!!!

@Sedousa, say what you like, but as far as i know, you have not ever seen me play, and furthermore, personally, given the unethical nature of how you conduct yourself in scene business, and events your words fall on deaf ears
Hahahahaha...OK...you have nothing to say about the issues pointed out you just want to fling more shit and have the nerve to use the word unethical. LOL
Bad Form...
I feel bad for Rich and everyone else connected to Gemini for having to deal with all this crap because of your constant negativity and self pleasing ego trips.
You have never been to one of our events or worked with us so how would you know anything about the subject?
You barely got to CO and don't know anything about my wife except for hear-say most likely from your girlfriend who we mistakenly let work with us and is as two faced as you, but you want to act like you know what your talking about so I'll let you continue to shove that foot farther in your mouth.
Your reputation holds its self up on the words of the community which are illustrated well in this thread.
You were here setting up for Crystallize and within an hour EVERYONE in the building wanted to strangle you.
Its people like you that are taking what is left of the beautiful scene here in CO and turning it into a drugged out kidy rave scene masked as a "psytrance" community. I hope for the sake of the small group of really great people still here that you are not the only ones left planning events in the future.
For the record we have seen you play twice...unfortunately.
This is all I have to say on the subject.

Nate I don't think the scene is "turning into a drugged-out kiddy rave scene", I think you are just growing up and getting more tired of the antics of the young.

In every line-up, a DJ is given the job of being the darkest, craziest DJ of the night. Genraly, the promoter tells them this and sets an upper limit for the insanity. I'm fairly certain Rich told Dave to take it to the limit and Dave gave it his best effort.
Sounds to me like he fulfilled the mission perfectly.

I'd have to disagree, its not about us getting old, this is specific, otherwise we would be experiencing this feeling across the states.

I refer you to your own excellent observation in a parallel thread :
all of this may be true for ONE track, none of it is true for all psytrance (or even one narrow sub-genre).
Philosophy aside, the melodies in these two tracks seem complex because of the layering and all the effects. Isolate the “main” lead and write it in a MIDI track – you’ll be up for a surprise, I bet.
The first one has a melody comparable in complexity to Metallica’s vocals. The same deal: a song sounds complex, the main melody is very simple. It seems like more because of a million other leads in the background – but it’s not.
The second track is actually very interesting and does sound complex (in the end at least). But if you transcribe that melody (I loved it, by the way) in the end as two leads with an identical patch (like two hands of a piano), you can split it into a part with simple arpeggios and a part with an even simpler melody. But I have to agree – it would require a “surgical” way of listening and quite a bit of puzzle solving (because of an interesting way these two parts are interleaved). If you just listen to the track to enjoy it, “holistically”, it does sound quite intricate.
Anyway, I remember you had a thread about tracks using harmony. In its last post I introduced two tracks that not only use harmony but are also very melodic, use all the no-no’s like flamboyant bass lines and guitar sounds – and still sound good (to me at least). Those would be good examples for your point as well.
http://forum.isratrance.com/tracks-which-use-harmony-progressions-well/
But still, I wouldn’t put it in an encyclopedia as a defining feature of the genre – that’s what I was trying to say.
P.S. It's not the first track by Electrypnose that I liked - need to look him up. Would be interesting to hear an Electrypnose vs. Terrafractyl track, uh?

People've said the same thing about the SF psy scene... except here it's become fragmented into two scenes, one old and one young (which is WAY worse than the alternative)

Well... I guess this "scene" will just have to keep on dividing and sub dividing itself until gatherings end up with an average of 30-70 attendees (including crew and artists), as dictated by the conscious/unconscious collectives which are further dissecting what psychedelia means to them.. considering of course that consciousness expanding is the aim.
I, personally, feel that ultimately the spirit of the gathering is reflected by the liveliness of the dance floor. At least that's what the past 12 years or so of doing this tells me... Only MY humble opinion
Showed up pretty late Saturday night, spontaneously, guided by fond memories and respect of Geminis past. Happy vibes, people making the most of the moment and pretty trippy sounds. I reckon that's what it's really all about. And Arahat's wicked ass groovy morning set took it into a sublime place.
Thank you, dear Gemini

God, I fucking hate the internet. These threads kill me.
I personally know several of the people involved in this brewing mini-feud, and I know that if Paradigm, Gypsy and several others were having this exact same conversation in person, face to face, it would be smiles, jokes and good natured laughs while establishing a far more productive ACTUAL DISCUSSION about the same core topics like "What constitutes a good party? What is the purpose of a proper DJ set? What should a psychedelic trance performer be seeking to accomplish during their set? What goes too far?"
Guys, seriously, please, all of you need to chill the fuck out and shut the fuck up. Can you all try to remember that we are all in the same ridiculously small, close social musical scene and that we are all INEVITABLY going to cross paths again soon, and that certain types of comments and responses are GUARANTEED to create a response of equal if not excessive reaction? Awesome. Thanks. Please shut up, this thread is supposed to be about how awesome Rich is. Thanks. Yaaay.
Paradigm, you are... simply not made for the internet and need to have someone else proofread your posts here first. Gypsy, seriously, Paradigm is one of the most trustworthy scene people I have come across in 10+ years of psychedelic trance-land and his taking the reigns of Gemini last year was instrumental into making it be one of the best balanced outdoor festivals I have seen in all my many long years of parties. It fucking kills me that the two of you are in both in Colorado and are already having some kind of bullshit beef. As your wise, grizzled PSY-TRANCE ELDER I am fucking ordering both of you make a date and sit down in person and have a beer and figure whatever shit you have out.

good natured banter is one thing, but being self-righteous and straight-up mean about OPINIONS is just fuckin lame.
