good recommendations anyone?
stress is on the flac support.
Used to have a Cowon D series many years ago but it got pinched by someone while traveling. Seems like Cowon is still on top of the game even now.

San Disk players have a FLAC support.
I got the Clip Plus. It gets the work done I guess...

I got a Cowon iaudio 7 which I love. Battery takes eternity to run out. But that's quite old by now - maybe they have newer models?
